    Q:

What frame is included if any with a cat boat. I'm new to rowing and am looking for a cat boat that I can take a passenger.

      A:

Jason, frames are sold separately from the inflated tubes. The model of tubes and frames depend on how you plan to boat. Read this article, then call us at 800.635.5202 and we'll help you get the best setup for your needs - http://www.nrs.com/boating_tips/choosingfirstraft.asp

Comments about AIRE Jaguarundi Cataraft:

This boat is great for 1-4 people on a long trip down the Middle Fork or the Wild Salmon or something similar. Would not hesitate to take it down the Grand Canyon. For 2, plus kid or dog, it is perfectly 3/4 loaded when you bring most of the luxuries. My wife drives it loaded most of the time and loves it. With a stroke or two it moves, tracks and turns very well and rides right up the biggest waves you can face. We have and prefer a 66 inch wide NRS frame about 120 inches long with 9 food oars and tall towers. 9.5 oars might be better for some. 72 inch wide version is good too but 10 ft oars are a must making the boat noticeable wider and less agile. It is surprisingly smooth with the new rocker shape and is really one of the best hauling cat boats on the river. Bigger catarafts are slugs when loaded (better to have a raft) but not this boat. Even maxed out it preforms decent. Go light whenever possible but go comfortable. Great day boat for lots of people too. A class 4 whitewater master!

    Comments about AIRE Jaguarundi Cataraft:

I've had this boat for over 10 years. Countless days on the water - everything from class IIII+ to class one fishing trips. No holes, rips or leaks. Great for 2 people on extended trips (packing light) or fishing but really shines in white water. By yourself or with one passenger you're only limited by your rowing skills - these boats love big water - tube shape is just right to punch holes. I have 10 foot oars and standard cat break down frame. I have a hybrid floor (2/3 net up front and one third light weight cedar - the wood makes a better cooler/cargo platform). The boat becomes very average if loaded down - however if you only expect class III or below and you have appropriate rowing skills you'll be fine with 1000 lbs (boat/frame plus people plus gear). Great boat.
