Comments about NRS Longhorn Raft Frame - Closeout:

First raft (Hyside MiniMax, the 48x50 frame fits well) and first frame -- wanted to try rowing -- this simple frame fits the bill for that and was very easy to assemble. Simple, effective instructions and organized packaging. Easy to adjust position of oar locks and footbar. Seat feels rugged. I like being able to press that footbar. As a beginner, I can't compare to other frames, but this seems strong. I like that it is modular -- I have already added another crossbar and swivel seat for my significant passenger.

The seat that comes with the frame is welded on. The seat is comfortable. My only wish is that it could fold down which it does not.

Micah, we can put on the type of seat you see on the Skidguard Frame, Item # 92012.01 or we can mount a Skidguard board on two cross bars. Call us, 800.635.5202, to discuss the options and place your order.

Not sure of your question; do you mean the rower's seat or passengers' seat or both? Simple answer, "Yes", but not without careful measurements and modification.
Do you already have the Longhorn frame and want to replace rower's seat and cross bar (why?) with a Skid Guard bench or square seat? Or, do you want to add a Skid Guard bench for the passenger seat, either replacing the front foot brace/cross bar or over it?
Why not buy this NRS Skid Guard frame if you don't already have the Longhorn frame,

            http://www.nrs.com/product/1220/nrs-skidguard-raft-frame

you can add the the foot brace/cross bar

            http://www.nrs.com/product/1200%20f/nrs-frame-foot-bar-with-lopros

or get the Deluxe foot brace (with an additional cross bar)

            http://www.nrs.com/product/1200df/nrs-deluxe-foot-bar
            http://www.nrs.com/product/1200%20c/nrs-frame-cross-bar-with-lopros

If you already have the Longhorn frame you'll have to ask NRS for the Skid Guard bench of the correct length and replace the cross bar w/seat mount in the back and/or simply place the Skid Guard bench over the bent foot brace in the front). To do this have NRS to make the Skid Guard benchs somewhat like the side rails but with Lo-Pros on either end instead of off the side, and of course with Skid Guard planks instead of the ususal marine plywood as for the side rails.

            http://www.nrs.com/product/12055/nrs-side-rail-racks

Of course, if all you want is to replace the rower's seat with a square piece of Skid Guard, that's easy. Have NRS make the size you want with the drill pattern (holes drilled). Use either T-nuts (counter bored a bit) in the seat with machine screws from the bottom or flat-head screws in the Skid Guard with bolts from the bottom.

Generally NRS will customize anything you want and help you with measurement specifications/definitions, if not go to RecreTec (makers of Skid Guard) at:

            http://www.recretec.com/

            Hope this helps,

You want the frame side rails to rest on the center of the side tubes, or farther out. Subtract the tube diameter from the outside boat width to get the center-to-center measurement. Then, choose a frame that wide or wider. FYI, our frame widths are center-to-center of the side rail pipe.

Shipping companies charge extra for oversize items and flammables. We let you know upfront, on the product page, in your shopping cart, and over the phone, what those charges are. That way your checkout process is quick, and we can promptly get the order headed your way.
