  • NRS Skidguard Raft Frame - Closeout

    Q:

Is this available to fit a 60" center to center?
Asked on 4/9/2014 by Lana from United States

      A:

You can drill new holes to adjust the frame width, but going 60" center to center would only give you 2" on each side, which could result in the seat breaking at that point.
I understand NRS can custom cut a skidguard board to a longer length (e.g. 70"), so you can ask them about this.

I have the small skidguard which would be small. The large would be my choice, also include the 4 X 48 inch closed foam pad. Good for long floats.

Lana, the dimensions of the Large are 64"W x 66"L overall, center-to-center of the side rails of 57 1/2".. So, the wood will be out past the center, with the side rails slightly inside the center. We can do custom widths in the frame, but not at this closeout price. Call 800.635.5202 to discuss a custom frame.

    Q:

Will this frame fit on an Outcast Power Drifter?
Asked on 2/27/2014 by Temo from Portland, OR

      A:

It looks like the Small Skidguard should work on the Power Drifter. The Drifter is 46" wide and the frame side rails are 49.5"W, center-to-center, so the oar pivot points will be out past the edges of the tubes. That's not a big deal, as the Skidguard seats will fit flat on the tubes.

    Q:

Is it possible to use this raft frame with a pair of 10ft pontoon tubes?
Asked on 2/26/2014 by Brucelee from Vancouver, BC

      A:

It would not work well. With pontoon/cataraft craft, the frame provides all the stability. Take a look at the Sport Cat Frame, Item # 92072.02. With upper and lower side rails, and D-rings on both sides of the tubes it's possible to strap the tubes to the frame to create a rigid, stable boat. If your pontoons have D-rings on both sides we could probably make you a modified version of this frame that would work great for you. Give us a call, 800.635.5202, to discuss options.

    Q:

Is it possible to order the large skidguard frame with 8" oar mounts instead of the 6"?
Also, the item is listed as back ordered, what's the timeframe for availability?
    Thanks

The Skidguard Frame will be back in stock first week in August, and yes, you can get 8" oar mounts with it. Because of that change, call 800.635.5202 to place the order.

    Q:

Can this frame be built to take apart for airplanes?

      A:

I have this frame and since it doesn't fit inside my car and I don't have a trailer I take it apart every time I use it. (about once a week.) it takes me a little less time to put it together or take it apart than it does my wife to blow up the raft. (about 15-20 minutes.) 8 bolts, real easy.

It actually comes in a box that is very thin, not very wide, only slightly long; so I think you could check it as luggage on a plane! -Derek

We use this frame for day trips and short overnighters. Works great, no problems. Very little can go wrong with this frame. Provides a place to sit and a place to mount oars. Does the job just fine.
