    Q:

Hi, I'm trying to outfit two Sotar Strikes. One that's 13'6" and another that's 14'6". I'm trying to figure out what width and length frames would be optimal. Thanks
Asked on 9/24/2013 by CW from Montana

      A:

I'm unable to find dimensions on the Strikes. You'll want to measure the center-to-center of the side tubes to get the frame width. And the flat area on the tubes to determine frame length. This page discusses those measurements. Call us, 800.635.5202, if you have questions about it. - http://www.nrs.com/frames/raftframes.asp

Steve, if you do indeed have a Sprite the 54"W x 68"L frame should fit just fine.

  • NRS Raft Fishing Frame - Closeout

    Q:

What size frame should I use on a 72" wide raft with 21.75" tubes? Would the 60" wide frame be better than the 54" frame or ice-versa?
Asked on 8/30/2013 by Rick from Liver Bow, MT

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

Rick, 72" - 21.25" = 50.75" (the center-to-center measurement). The 54" wide frame is what you need. There are three side rail lengths to choose from. If one of those lengths doesn't work for you, check with us for custom options. Let us know how we can help you get the frame dialed in to your liking.

    Q:

I have an aire tributary 14sd...I was wondering what size fishing frame fits that raft the best?
Asked on 8/29/2013 by Ben from Bozeman, MT

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

The 14' Tributary has a side tube flat length of 69.5", so the 68" long frame will be perfect. AIRE lists the center-to-center measurement as 61", which is close enough to our 60" wide frame to present no problem.

    Q:

If you have non-removable thwarts, where do you put the cooler with this frame? Is there some configuration I am missing or would you slide the footbar forward and use it to hold the cooler against the thwart? Move the rear crossbar in front of the footbar and use that? I understand it is customizable but I am wondering about solutions others have arrived at with this frame.

    Thanks!

everything on mine is moveable I put my cooler behind the front seat and batteries in front of it for my trolling motor. I made a sling for my batteries out a piece of good ply, wood cut holes and slung it from the frame to balance the load if I am by my self
the cooler can be different sizes depending on how much stuff you need to carry, hope this helps feel free to contact me.

      A:

Dan, there are several factors here to consider - the size of the center compartment (distance between the thwarts), length of your legs, size of cooler, etc. One thing you can do to free up some space is deflate one or both thwarts. Or you can eliminate the foot bar, add a couple of cross bars to suspend the cooler and brace your feet against the cooler. Or, you can eliminate the seat bar and row from the cooler, with or without the Flip Seat Mount, Item # 1282. The adjustability and ability to customize is what makes the NRS frame system so awesome. A:

John, it just depends on the 12' boat. It fits fine on NRS 12-footers. For your boat, determine the center-to-center of the side tubes (width of the boat - one tube diameter) and the length of the flat area. Then check the stock frame sizes in the drop down menu. We can do some custom alterations if the fit isn't quite right.

Can you folks make a fishing package for your 12-foot otter? I see one for the 130 and 142 but was curious about the 120. IF so, what would it cost?

    Thanks,

Mike, the Otter 120 with the same items will be $5,080.47. FYI, the boat packages online are just intended to show folks what's possible. The "package" cost is the sum of the cost of the items. You can make your own package in the Shopping Cart. The Cart automatically calculates the 10% discount we give on all accessories purchased with an inflatable.

Comments about NRS Raft Fishing Frame:

This is a great addition to my Aquilas. The white water frame I usually use is okay for fishing but this fishing frame makes it so much better for our day trips. It went together easily. Appears to be very durable. Will have to wait and see on that.

I was so excited after I got it that we floated the South Fork of the Snake on a cold December day. The frame worked well and the fishing was pretty good. My hands may thaw out by May.

My only downer would be that with my 14' self baler, the side rails could be longer. The 68" seem a little short but I will with hold judgement till I try it a few times.

Overall, I am very happy with the frame.

        Jake
