If rowing gear is your lot in life, then the vast cargo room of the NRS Top Cat frame is for you. Extra-long side rails provide ample room for the included seat bar and high-back seat, two cross bars and set of cooler mounts, two foot bars and oar mounts. Drop in two coolers or dryboxes, which creates seating for extra passengers and room to strap down gear bags.

Please note: NRS Cataraft Yokes place the center of the lower side rails 10" below the center of the top side rail. Generally they work best on NRS River Cats, Kodiak Cats and other manufacturer's cat tubes 24" or larger in diameter. Measure the depth of your inside D-rings to see if this is your best choice. For cats with smaller diameter tubes, the Sport Cat Frame (# 1275) is an excellent choice.

  • NRS Top Cat Frame - 72"W x 120"L

    Q:

Recently purchased a Sotar Legend 16' Cataraft (24" tubes). Last summer I oared an NRS 16" River Cat with an NRS Top Cat frame. Loved the frame, wanting to put one on my Legend tubes. Is the frame too much for the 24" tubes on my Legend????

You will be just fine. My brother uses the top cat frame on both his 16' and 18' NRS tubes. His set up includes a 24" X 33" piece of aluminum diamond plate. The 16' tubes are 24" diameter.

Kevin, if you have the 15'6" Legend - http://sotar.com/boat-specifications/cats/legend/15-6.html - it looks like it has a 106.7" flat area. So, the 107" Top Cat should be a fine fit. The lower side rails on a yoke-style frame are 10", center-to-center, below the top side rails. If your inner D-rings work for that depth, you're good to go.

NRS web site. Rafting pull-down. Frame parts. NRS Cat yoke. Under More information select Frame part specs. select yoke-cat. This should come up.

I have 40 inch box fits snug in dimension B . I don't think a 44" box will work for you. I have used the universal frame drop down rails with shorter cross bars on the B and 72 inch on the A and spreader bars. They don't set the frame as taught as the yoke does. I prefer the stability of the yoke. I can't set my box next to the lowpro on the B dimension. I use a tabbed box and a 72 inch cross bar to set box back off the the lowpro. Again I prefer the stability of the yoke. I have a friend who tapered his boxes to get around the lowpro issue.

The Frame Part Specs link is down in the More Information box. Here are the Yoke dimensions - http://www.nrs.com/frames/Specs.asp#Yoke - This design will not accommodate your 44" boxes. However, depending on the diameter of your cat tubes we may be able to give you that width using Drop Rails, Item # 90043.01.Give us a call, 800.635.5202, to discuss the possibilities.
