The Sawyer S/P Lights Oar is the choice of the Northwest's professional Drift Boat Guides. They're light, they're wood, they're tough... and they're beautiful.
  • Laminated from specially selected straight grain Douglas Fir for a light, stiff and stable oar.
  • The blades have a slight crown for superb control and Northern White Ash edges and epoxy-metal tip splines for excellent durability.
  • Full length tapered shafts are rope wrapped (with rubber stopper) for durable, quiet rowing and have a rubber-covered grip for comfort.
  • Finished with a sealer soak, plus two thick coats of the finest marine grade spar varnish.
We recommend using Cobra Oarlocks with these oars.

  • Sawyer S/P Lights Oar

    Q:

    Are these oars counter balanced?
Would they be sufficient for use with a white water raft even though they are built for dories?

      A:

They are not counterbalanced. As to whitewater use, they would work but the Sawyer Light Drifter oars or Square Top Dynalites would be better choices for heavy-duty whitewater usage.

Comments about Sawyer S/P Lights Oar:

I received a pair as a gift to try out and ended up buying another pair. Gotta say sawyer makes the best oars for whitewater rafting. I have found no equal. I have used them throughout the Pacific Northwest and the Grand Canyon and will row with nothing else.

a weekend of guiding, covering 16 river miles, and they're so well balanced I don't really feel there's anything in my hands! Turnover is quick, they're extremely responsive, and beautiful to look at! Gotta love `em!
