      Comments about Oarlock Stainless Springs:

Used these to eliminate oar lock flutter on my Scadden raft with an upgrade from the mini cobra oar locks to full size. They fit great and I have a lot more power with my full size oars now.

            Comments about Oarlock Stainless Springs:

Smoothness, lack of oarlock (rowlock) wobble/jump and increase in efficiency yield better effective rowing. Without thesess springs, NRS oarstands, and the old school steel stands (which were typically bolted to frame decks) allow the oarlock/rowlock to jump up and wear the mounting hole on every oar stroke. These springs help hold the oarlock/rowlock more securely. Buy and install!

Washer, then spring, washer. Put the split ring through the hole in the stem of the oar lock to hold it all on! Hope that helps!

The catalog pic shows a washer on top and bottom of the oar mount, spring on the bottom, and split ring through the keeper hole. I install mine with an additional washer on the bottom of the spring to quiet the whole affair.

I put the springs and washers on and then compress the springs with a pair of channel locks so that I can access the hole to the rings more easily. Even easier with someone else holding the pliers. Obviously, do it out of the water so when things go flying you can find them.

Under the oar lock. Washer then spring then washer then pin.

Tom, put one washer on top of the oar mount, one washer under the mount and the spring below that. It's easiest to install the spring when you use the Lynch Pin Keeper - http://www.nrs.com/product/1422%20lp/lynch-pin-oarlock-keeper - If you have the older cast oar mounts, I'd put some grease inside the mount hole to prevent squeaking. The nylon bushing in the new forged mounts don't usually need greasing.
