Among the many uses for split rings, we use them most for securing oarlocks in oar mounts. One end of the ring coil is slightly flared out to facilitate getting the ring started, and to help save broken fingernails! Spare split rings are great to have in your repair kit.

I purchased a used Tsunami with some missing hardware at the rudder. These rings were perfect to repair the missing components.

    • Replacement Oarlock Split Ring

Is one end of this split ring flared like the rings that come with all NRS oar locks? If not, how can we order spare rings like the ones that are provided with NRS oar locks?

Yes, one end of these Split Rings is flared out slightly to facilitate getting it started on the oarlock, or anything else you're using it on. The photo hasn't been updated since we made the switch.

I have ordered these several times and I have gotten different rings. Someone from NRS is going to have to check current inventory for you. None of mine were flared. One order of rings was so brittle that they would break when you tried to flare them. I now use and like the NRS lynch Pin. I can be pulling the Lynch pin several time a day. The lynch pins for me are well worth the $1.50 . http://www.nrs.com/product/1422%20lp/lynch-pin-oarlock-keeper
