    Q:

Is this webbing designed to be used for hoisting - could it be used as part of a pulley system to store a kayak on a garage ceiling? Would it be durable? Or is it just for tie down purposes?

My kayak at this minute is being held up against the ceiling of my garage by NRS straps and has been for 6 years. The work great for many things... both holding things up and holding things down.

It's certainly strong enough. Webbing isn't ideal for use in a pulley system; we've got a number of ropes that would be a better choice. While you're making your plans, take a look at the Kayak/SUP Hanger, Item #1588.

Yes, the webbing would be fine for hoisting boats and kayaks.
I wouldn't use it in a life safety issue unless its the only thing you have and a life depended on it. Otherwise super strong.

      Good Morning Al,
We use the webbing both to tie down 5 high stacks of rafts on our raft
trailers, as well as several kayaks at a time on open utility trailers. We
do also use them to suspend boats from the ceiling. Curiously enough we
presently have a stamped turn-of-the-century log suspended from our office
ceiling using these straps. If your pulleys accommodate the straps, don't
hesitate to use them to suspend and store your kayak. And indeed, they are
terribly durable. We've been using them out in the elements for as long as I
can remember, so be assured they're gonna outlive you if there work life
will be indoors. Hope this helps.. Mark

    Q:

Will this withstand the jaws of a BUGG (Boston Terrier/Pug mix) that currently can zap through 1" webbing from the fabric store when it is pulled taught? If it does I will buy some to make some leads! He is forever 'freeing' my Wheaten. Thanks!

My sons Lab went through single ply nylon straps fairly fast, look for some strapping that is doubled over and sewn, this is great webbing I use to hold canoes down. My guess is its to light for dogs. Good luck Randy

I don't know, but I doubt that it will, you can cut it with sciss ors .

These straps will hold like 2500 pounds or something like that. But if you rub it along a saw blade it will cut just like your dogs teeth. They will hold a raft full of stuff on the Colorado River while you take a hike up a slot canyon, but if you tie up your boat and the strap is raking along a piece of Grand Canyon travertine it won't be there when you get back. They only thing that will withstand the jaws of Buggs is a steel cable... or get a dog that doesn't need to chew on things.

I'm sorry but I truly think this will only slow him down just a bit. If you are sewing it yourself I'd try to find some tubular webbing (I have some I can sell you if you cant find it) and run some plastic coated cable through the center of it. That might just work a little better. Good luck. Connor @ ****@***.***

Comments about NRS 1" Heavy-Duty Webbing:

I purchased 100' of this NRS strapping and some of the cam buckles. I took it all to my local leather/saddle shop. In one afternoon the guy made me 12 custom straps and saved me around $50. The money I saved helped get me to the river. The strapping, buckles and Leatherman's work stood up to the Salmon River (Ruby and Lake Creek) at 68,000 cfs :)

      Thank you NRS!!
