    Q:

Will the paddle float if lost in whitewater? If not, are there any similar breakdown designs with fiberglass shafts that can be converted from single paddle to kayak paddle? This is a great idea!

      A:

No the paddle does not float. (OK for about 3 minutes you have a
chance of finding it) I strapped orange duct tape to the shaft to
make it easier to find in the water when I do let go. It is a ok
paddle for an extra but there are better paddles. Choose wisely

    Q:

If this breaks down into the 4 smaller pieces, why an extra $15 to ship???

      A:

Even though it breaks down, the longest piece still falls into a shipper's oversize. However, the surcharge should be $8.00, rather than $15.00 (which would have been correct if the paddle was assembled to its full length). Thanks for catching our mistake!

Comments about Carlisle Taboo Kayak & Stand Up Paddle:

Just received the Carlisle adjustable stand up paddle. I am impressed with the workmanship. I was hoping that the paddle would be convertible from adjustbale kayak paddle to adjustable raft/canoe type paddle. If the t-handle was designed to fit directly onto a paddle end, and the middle shaft broke down into two pieces (adjustable) this would be a real winner. I wuld like to see the kayak paddle adjustable to less than 230 cm. I was hoping to use the paddle for inflatable kayak paddling and be able to go back and forth from two-bladed kayak paddle to one-piece raft type paddle. Maybe Carlisle could provide a retrofit kit to be able to do this? Also if more closed cell foam was in holow of shaft it could float? Could also make a good back-up break down paddle if middle shaft broke down into two pieces. I understand it was designed more for convertible SUP paddle, but with a couple of tweaks it could do it all!

Won't satisfy those who are looking for top of the line for either a kayak paddle or a SUP paddle, but the flexibility of having either option with you is great. Fits our needs so well we just bought another one.

See pros & cons above. Not a good paddle for just standing up on a SUP. But great as a paddle that can serve all purposes.
