    Q:

Would this object be willing to cling passionately to my Greenland paddle if my roll fails?

David, the blade pocket is 13" wide and 24" long. It was designed with the more modern composite blade shapes in mind. You can certainly give it a try!

Sorry, I have not ever tried on a Greenland.
You have to blow this up - no time or air if your roll fails! Wet exit time!

    Q:

Would the NRS Sea Kayak Paddle Float work with a 3.5 inch blade of a greenland paddle? Could it be secured adequately? Thank you ahead of time for your opinion before I purchase one.

      A:

I haven't used it on a greenland paddle in the water but have put it on
and inflated it. It isn't ideal but I think it will stay on the
paddle. I do expect to test it in the water next week at the Great
      Lakes Sea Kayaking Symposium.

      Jon,
I recently acquired a carbon fiber Greenland paddle with a 3.25" blade.
I've tested this paddle float and the new paddle at home and between the
buckle closure, the drawstring closure, and the friction created by actual
inflation of the chamber/s I believe it will work fine with my new
Greenland paddle. However, I have not yet actually attempted an actual
self rescue with the new Greenland paddle and the paddle float yet. Hope
      this helps!

      A:

Jon, the blade width will easily fit in the Paddle Float. There's 27" from the bottom of the blade pocket to the drawcord closure. For a greenland paddle that's probably not long enough to secure it above the throat of the paddle. You'll have to get creative to make it work.

    Q:

In Duke's review he said "keep the breathing tube lubricated during storage". What lubricant material is recommended?

      A:

He must be referring to the screw on cap. Pool and river water will make it
sticky and hard to turn. Just rinsing it with clean water should do the
trick. But using some 303 should work too.

    Q:

paddle float inflation tubes have cracked and broken, can the tube itself be purchased and be retrofitted into the float, or purchase a new float ? thank you

      A:

I have had the same problem with the inflation tubes on my floation air bags for the front and rear of the kayak.
Need an answer for the probem myself, the bags are perfectly good, but the inflation tube material cracks.
NRS needs to address this and put it in an email to everyone.

      A:

If the inflation tube has cracked, that sounds like a warranty issue. Return it for evaluation.

Comments about NRS Sea Kayak Paddle Float:

All inflatable psddle flaots should be dual chamber and this one is. I replaced my last one when one chaber failed. This looks to be of sturdier material and I hope for long use. The clip buckle and draw string make it fit both euro and Greenland paddles. the mesh bottom makes it self draining. The clip buckle and webbing near the foot make it an emergency PFD for a swimmer. I keep it cliped on deck and it is ready to deploy.

This has given me a great peace of mind. Totally taken the worry factor out of dumping. I don't want to dump, of course, but when/if I do, I ain't worried a bit with this paddle float. Works great.
