  • NRS Blast Adapter

    Q:

Will this fit on the 2014 Aire Outfitter II IK? We have one adapter that is red in color but thought we should have a back-up.

      A:

This adapter is designed specifically to fit on the Blast 12 volt pump – the slots make a tight connection to the pump. The other end is generic 5/8 in OD. So if you don’t have the Blast pump, this is worthless. If you do, this is my limited experience. I have successfully used the Blast pump and adapter to fill a North Fork pontoon boat. With just the adapter pressed up to the open valve, you can inflate the pontoon almost full, but not full enough for use. If you can make a tight fit you can fill it to a reasonable level, especially if you aren’t floating in water much colder than the ambient air temp, as the cooling of the tube will deflate the tube too much. Usually you need to use a hand pump to do the final fill max pressure needed. My experience is that still water floating you can get away with filling just with the Blast, but in moving water you want the tubes maximally filled.
Presumably you have a hand pump that has a tight fitting to do the final top off, so you might get away without the specific adapter to connect this adapter to the valve.
Presumably you can get a male adapter to mate with the female valve in your tube (many stores have these adapters, but there are many different valves and generations of valves, so shop carefully) . Hopefully this also is 5/8 in OD on the opposite end, Then you just need to buy a short length of 5/8 in ID tubing to join the 2. (I used zip ties to make a tight connection)
What I found much more convenient was to buy relatively stiff 5/8 in ID tubing at the hardware store. What I ended up with was clear with large white threads inside the plastic .Its wall it fairly thick, about 1/8 in. It fits the Blast adapter and then on the other side I just used a knife to taper the outside diameter til it fit snugly into the valve.

Ann, this adapter is designed to fit on the NRS Blast Electric Pump, Item # 80060.01. It does fit in the Leafield B7 valves you have on your Outfitter, but it could not easily be adapted to fit other pumps. The rubber Leafield/Military Valve Adapter, # 38524.01, is an excellent adapter for all the Leafield valves.

Sarah, I don't know know what you mean by "bayonet valve." The tip of the adapter is 11/16" in diameter, then swells to 3/4". Hope that helps. Give us a call, 800.635.5202, or email service@nrsweb.com if you need more help solving your issue.
