Sterling says it weighs 3.8 pounds per 100 feet. That would make it weigh ~ 0.61 ounces per foot.

Bear, the manufacturer is Sterling Rope. Dyneema is a trade name for Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWP) fiber. Here's an article with more info on our ropes - http://www.nrs.com/tech_talk/know_the_ropes.asp

      A:

Todd, check out this article on rope. Dyneema is Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWP) fiber, which is low stretch. Super strong and floats. Can't really report on mildew; I think most ropes can mildew if exposed to the right conditions. - http://www.nrs.com/tech_talk/know_the_ropes.asp

      Comments about Dyneema Rope 3/8":

Used the rope for lining but bought it in the event of a tip-over and pinned boat. Haven't had that happen yet so can't attest to tensile strength of line. I sure feel better having the strongest rope possible on a wilderness trip, though.
