The adjustable bungee sprayskirt can be a great choice for kayakers paddling touring and recreational kayaks. They tend to be less expensive and can fit a range of cockpit sizes. This video gives tips on how fit an adjustable bungee sprayskirt for a snug fit, while still allowing the skirt to be removed safely in a wet exit.

  • NRS Zippered Mesh Cockpit Cover

    Q:

I have a Pyranha Burn S. Cockpits in Burns run XL.The specifications in the mesh cover say up to 36". Is there wiggle room there? My cockpit is 36.75" and I don't won't to struggle putting the cover on.

Kelly, another customer answered that this cover fits a Seals 1.7 size cockpit and Seals says the Burn is a 1.7 size. We have an excellent and free returns system, so it's certainly worth a try.

So, I just went out and measured my cockpit. It's 34.5" x 19" and the cover
goes on really easy. I then tried to stretch the mesh cover to see how much
more length I could get out of it. Surprisingly, it only went to about 36".
I can't say for sure that it would fit to 36.75", but 3/4ths of an inch
isn't much . the elastic rim might barely make it. At the back end of the
cover, the elastic cord is knotted with about 2" of "extra" cord hanging
out. If I needed just a tad more room, I might be able to untie the knot
and re-tie it to try to gain that leftover 2". However, I wouldn't be
comfortable telling you to go ahead and buy it - because I don't know,
offhand, what NRS' returns policy is like. If you know you can return it
easily, it might be worth ordering it. It's a nice cover. Made well and
does exactly what I wanted it to do. Sorry I couldn't provide a definitive
      answer!

can adjust it to fit either. I hope this helps/

Our kayaks (1 fiberglass, 1 kevlar) are stored in slings above our cars in
the garage. We use the mesh cockpit cover to allow air circulation in the
kayak and keep bugs out. When we were newbies at kayaking, we made the
mistake of storing them with solid vinyl cockpit covers. After scrubbing
out the mildew that developed all over the inside of the kayaks, we switched
to the mesh covers. No problem since. We use the solid covers for
transporting the kayaks on the road.
The dealer we purchased our kayaks from was not in favor of storing kayaks
outside. He said it's too easy for the kayaks to get water inside and then
freeze - and that can cause significant damage. It's also easy for them to
be damaged by falling branches, etc. If you must store them outside, he said
to build a rack to store them upside down and tie them to the rack in that
position so they don't accidentally move and let water inside.

Not sure if it will fit that particular kayak but, for reference it fits on my Pygmy Coho and Pyrnah H3-255 easily.

Van, the Danuu Buddy Cover, Item # 50069.01, will fit your kayak. The Egret is a discontinued model and I am unable to find cockpit dimensions. I did find a picture of the boat in a Craigslist post. The smaller size of the Super Stretch Cover, Item # 52505.01, will fit it. For recommendations on other covers call us, 800.635.5202, with the width and length dimensions of the cockpit outer rim.

    Q:

I have a Swift Saranac 15' with 33 x 17.5 cockpit. which is slightly less than the spec for the Large size. Would this cover be too loose for my kayak (which will hang upside down in storage)?

      A:

My Swift has a 33 x 18.75 cockpit. The cover fits fine and I have to tug
the thing to get it off. The difference between yours and mine isn't so
much as to make for a "loose" fit. I use this only for storage (upside
down) because the inside of the boat can breathe and discourage mildew. It
also does a great job of keeping insects out. For transport on top of the
car, I use a closed cover to improve aerodynamics and keep road dust and
dirt out of the boat. Once I get home, I rinse out the boat, drain it and
put the mesh cover on before I hang it.

Hello , The NRS zippered mesh cockpit cover should fit the cockpit of your kayak
just fine. I have a whitewater boat with the same cockpit size and the cover is a
good fit , also the material that fits around the combing is soft and sticks well to
      the combing.

If I remember correctly, the cover fit with a little extra room (read not too tight) on my dagger mamba 8.5 whitewater kayak. I can't verify that, though, because someone swiped it. It worked well. I was able to cram all of my paddling clothes, pfd, helmet, drysuit, and skirt into it without worrying about stuff falling out and when it was on top of my car things could even dry out a little.

Sorry but I have no idea what is a Elie 120 Strait is. I would recommend
you measure the overall length and width, across the cockpit combing, on
your boat. Then call NRS customer service. They're usually pretty good
about answering questions like that if you have enough information.

      A:

The Zippered Cover is sized to fit cockpits 18"-20"W x 34"-36"L. Elie says the Strait 120's is 18" x 34.5". May be snug, but should fit. You can return it if it doesn't.

I bought this for a Pyranha Fusion kayak for use during storage of the boat in the garage. It will let the interior of the kayak dry out while keeping the critters out. There is soft neoprene encasing the shock cord around the perimeter. The cover seems well ventilated, but I would have liked a closer mesh material. The zipper allows easy access without removing the cover.
