Hello: I have purchased the helmet for adults only. There is a self adjusting knob on back of helmet that allows for the fit of various head sizes but not sure it would fit a childs head. I would call NRS customer service

      Well that depends...
My 11 year old grandson fits in it just fine but his head is fairly wide for his age but not as deep front to back as an average 11 year old. These helmets have a rapid fit tensioning system that works like a champ. I highly recommend them. These are great for growing kids and the price is right. I suggest you give it a shot.

The helmet is designed to fit folks with a head circumference of 20.86"-24.4". Measure the person's head circumference to see if it will work.

Not unless he or she has a very big head. I'm a grown woman and I couldn't wear it. Bowl is way too deep and it came down around my ears and the bridge of my nose. Definitely NOT a one-size-fits-most. I sent it back!

      A:

It depends on the size of his head, but I doubt it. I have a small head
and this helmet doesn't fit me comfortably, so unless he/she has a large
head for their age, I would try something else with sizes.

Hello: I have not cleaned my helmet except just letting clear water rinse it off after a river trip. This helmet pretty much saved my life when our 18 ft raft flipped in lava falls on the GC and we had a very long swim . When we finally got to shore there was some large gashes in the plastic that would of proved to be gnarly wounds had I not been wearing it.
As I always say, no matter what.. protect the cranium, because if it goes... no more river trips. See ya on the river. Good luck.
PS: this helmet is a great value...cheers

I honestly don't know the approved method. I use fresh cold water only most
times and just let it air dry. The only soap I've used is dawn and that's
only been once or twice since I've owned the helmet.

You can do a gopro. If you use one of the sticky mounts make sure the
surface is clean and you have a tether. I also used a wrist strap mount
tied through the vent holes on the top before I placed a sticky mount on
      there.

Think bicycle helmet weight. My head is 7 1/4 and its got a lot of room

Jeff, the Havoc fits up to a 24.4" circumference head. A 7 5/8 hat has a circumference of 23.8", so it will fit you. It weighs 0.95 pounds. Have fun.

I'm sorry, but the Havoc has the largest fit range of any of our helmets. I'm not aware of a watersports helmet that fits larger size heads. Please check with some of our dealers in you area to see if they carry a helmet that will work for you - http://www.nrs.com/services/dealerlocator.asp

The xl was too small for me as well. Unfortunately I had to go with a Gath

They are the only ones I've found they go larger than xl.

I do not know the laws with respect to biking, but the helmet is probably a bit heavy for bike riding.

I would not recommend it, even if it did meet the standards. Bike helmets are vented differently to provide much greater airflow to the head, which gets very hot with strenuous riding. A whitewater helmet will not provide adequate cooling.

Brent, we can't recommend it. Helmets for different sports are tested differently. Boating helmets are certified under CE EN 1385, a different standard from bike helmets. This article has some further thoughts on the matter - http://www.nrsweb.com/boating_tips/boatingHelmets.asp

I don't know about CPSc standards, but If it can protect your noggin from
rocks in the water...I'm sure this helmet is safe for occasional bike
riding. If you're a serious bike rider though, I would
recommend investing in a bike helmet. They are much lighter and better
      ventilated for riding

I bought 2 of these great helmets for my girlfriend and myself. We were taking a Class III/IV paddling trip down the "Lower Yough" in Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania. The helmet gave us an instant feeling of security upon donning the unit. The inner padding was substantial with all around head coverage. The construction is superior to a lot of different helmets that I have looked to purchase. The style of the helmet is pretty sweet as well! My girl friend was thrown into the water and said that she was thankful that I purchased the helmet because she collided with a rock and the helmet did its job! (side note: I would have been afraid to go into the drink with the helmets that the 'outfitter' provided). Also, there are ventilation/water evac ports in several places but the helmet can still become a bit sweaty (but that can also be attributed to your level of physical exertion). Overall it is great helmet that I would highly recommend.

I use this helmet when I am making heavy surf entries and exits. The Dial Fit system works very well and adjusts with ease. The chin strap is comfortable and secures without being restrictive. However, the adhesive used to glue the two forehead helmet pads to the inside of the helmet quickly failed. This happened by the third time I wore the helmet. The pads are gradually working their way down the inside of the helmet. If it wasn't for the glue issue - the helmet would get five stars.

Comments about NRS Havoc Livery Helmet:

Here's the thing. I've worn a lot of one-size-fits-all helmets on commercial trips and in kayaking classes, and I could always make them fit. I could not make this fit, no way no how. If I adjusted it tight enough to not slip down over my ears and almost to the bridge of my nose, then it would be so tight it would give an instant headache. The bowl of the helmet is way, way too deep. I don't even have a particularly small head.
