I bought 2 of these great helmets for my girlfriend and myself. We were taking a Class III/IV paddling trip down the "Lower Yough" in Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania. The helmet gave us an instant feeling of security upon donning the unit. The inner padding was substantial with all around head coverage. The construction is superior to a lot of different helmets that I have looked to purchase. The style of the helmet is pretty sweet as well! My girl friend was thrown into the water and said that she was thankful that I purchased the helmet because she collided with a rock and the helmet did its job! (side note: I would have been afraid to go into the drink with the helmets that the 'outfitter' provided). Also, there are ventilation/water evac ports in several places but the helmet can still become a bit sweaty (but that can also be attributed to your level of physical exertion). Overall it is great helmet that I would highly recommend.

I use this helmet when I am making heavy surf entries and exits. The Dial Fit system works very well and adjusts with ease. The chin strap is comfortable and secures without being restrictive. However, the adhesive used to glue the two forehead helmet pads to the inside of the helmet quickly failed. This happened by the third time I wore the helmet. The pads are gradually working their way down the inside of the helmet. If it wasn't for the glue issue - the helmet would get five stars.

Comments about NRS Havoc Livery Helmet:

Got this one to replace my protec I've used for 11 years professional whitewater guiding. Dial fit system works great. The depth or bucket of the helmet is deep. I had some foam sleeping pad pieces in my bicycle shop, so I cut an oval crown piece and poof, Great fit. Suggestion include added crown foam, and y'all will get a lot less returned. You can send me so love for helping out with research & development.

Comments about NRS Havoc Livery Helmet:

Although the helmet looked good and was lightweight, it was way to large for my head. There is no extra padding or cushions on the inside of the helmet to help fill it out and the deep bucket came too far down on my head. Would be a nice helmet if it fit, but universal size does not fit all.

It depends on the size of his head, but I doubt it. I have a small head
and this helmet doesn't fit me comfortably, so unless he/she has a large
head for their age, I would try something else with sizes.

My 11 year old grandson fits in it just fine but his head is fairly wide for his age but not as deep front to back as an average 11 year old. These helmets have a rapid fit tensioning system that works like a champ. I highly recommend them. These are great for growing kids and the price is right. I suggest you give it a shot.

I honestly don't know the approved method. I use fresh cold water only most

Hello: I have not cleaned my helmet except just letting clear water rinse it off after a river trip. This helmet pretty much saved my life when our 18 ft raft flipped in lava falls on the GC and we had a very long swim . When we finally got to shore there was some large gashes in the plastic that would of proved to be gnarly wounds had I not been wearing it.
As I always say, no matter what.. protect the cranium, because if it goes... no more river trips. See ya on the river. Good luck.
PS: this helmet is a great value...cheers

You can do a gopro. If you use one of the sticky mounts make sure the
surface is clean and you have a tether. I also used a wrist strap mount
tied through the vent holes on the top before I placed a sticky mount on

A GoPro mount can be used with the Havoc helmet. I personally use the vent strap mount with my GoPro and Havoc but the adhesive camera mounts will also work just fine. I would certainly stick a Floaty Back to it and I would also rig a tether if mounted this way. - Dan C.

Brent, we can't recommend it. Helmets for different sports are tested differently. Boating helmets are certified under CE EN 1385, a different standard from bike helmets. This article has some further thoughts on the matter - http://www.nrsweb.com/boating_tips/boatingHelmets.asp

I would not recommend it, even if it did meet the standards. Bike helmets are vented differently to provide much greater airflow to the head, which gets very hot with strenuous riding. A whitewater helmet will not provide adequate cooling.
