I need a kayaking helmet that will fit my fat head that measures 24.5 inches. The XL size is too snug. Do you carry any XXL sizes?

I'm sorry, but the Havoc has the largest fit range of any of our helmets. I'm not aware of a watersports helmet that fits larger size heads. Please check with some of our dealers in you area to see if they carry a helmet that will work for you - http://www.nrs.com/services/dealerlocator.asp

The xl was too small for me as well. Unfortunately I had to go with a Gath
Gedi Convertible helmet, they go up to a xxxl helmet but it's much pricer.
They are the only ones I've found they go larger than xl.

Can I use this for bicycle riding? Does it meet or exceed CPSC standards?

      Brent,

I do not know the laws with respect to biking, but the helmet is probably a bit heavy for bike riding.

I would not recommend it, even if it did meet the standards. Bike helmets are vented differently to provide much greater airflow to the head, which gets very hot with strenuous riding. A whitewater helmet will not provide adequate cooling.

Brent, we can't recommend it. Helmets for different sports are tested differently. Boating helmets are certified under CE EN 1385, a different standard from bike helmets. This article has some further thoughts on the matter - http://www.nrsweb.com/boating_tips/boatingHelmets.asp

I don't know about CPSc standards, but If it can protect your noggin from
rocks in the water...I'm sure this helmet is safe for occasional bike
riding. If you're a serious bike rider though, I would
recommend investing in a bike helmet. They are much lighter and better
      ventilated for riding

I bought 2 of these great helmets for my girlfriend and myself. We were taking a Class III/IV paddling trip down the "Lower Yough" in Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania. The helmet gave us an instant feeling of security upon donning the unit. The inner padding was substantial with all around head coverage. The construction is superior to a lot of different helmets that I have looked to purchase. The style of the helmet is pretty sweet as well! My girl friend was thrown into the water and said that she was thankful that I purchased the helmet because she collided with a rock and the helmet did its job! (side note: I would have been afraid to go into the drink with the helmets that the 'outfitter' provided). Also, there are ventilation/water evac ports in several places but the helmet can still become a bit sweaty (but that can also be attributed to your level of physical exertion). Overall it is great helmet that I would highly recommend.

I use this helmet when I am making heavy surf entries and exits. The Dial Fit system works very well and adjusts with ease. The chin strap is comfortable and secures without being restrictive. However, the adhesive used to glue the two forehead helmet pads to the inside of the helmet quickly failed. This happened by the third time I wore the helmet. The pads are gradually working their way down the inside of the helmet. If it wasn't for the glue issue - the helmet would get five stars.

Comments about NRS Havoc Livery Helmet:

We (Bluewater Rescue and Salvage) needed new helmets for our work with OPA (Offshore Powerboat Assoc.) and APBA Hydroplanes. These are perfect for what we do and the yellow stands out nicely when we are in or out of the water. There are 4 of us who are full-time divers for these venues. and it is nice to finally have our own helmets that protect us from overhead bangs and bumps while below the surface doing rescues on boats. it's easy to wear all the time, usually a 6 hour timeframe on race day, or to don quickly snap the chin strap and tighten the head band.

Thanks NRS for a great helmet that truly fits or needs at an affordable price.

I bought this helmet so that I could be an assistant instructor for in-pool winter classes.
Seems to work just fine. Won't be using it during the spring/summer/fall while paddling on lakes and rivers -- too bulky for that.
