NRS Men's Wetsuit Line (2:47)

NRS paddling wetsuits help you inexpensively extend your boating season into the colder months. All of our wetsuits are made with petroleum-free Terraprene neoprene, and all models feature a titanium laminate layer that reflects heat back to your body to help keep you warmer. This video compares the NRS Little John Wetsuit, the NRS 2.0 Farmer John Wetsuit, the NRS 3.0 Farmer John Wetsuit and the NRS 3.0 Ultra John Wetsuit. It also mentions the NRS Farmer Bill Wetsuit, NRS Grizzly Wetsuit, NRS Wetsuit Jacket and NRS HydroSkin Shirt as additional options. Wetsuits and other neoprene garments insulate your body when wet or dry, making them great for whitewater kayaking, whitewater rafting, canoeing, sea kayaking, kayak touring, kayak fishing and SUP (stand up paddling) in cool or cold conditions.

    Q:

I am 5'6" 42 waist and weigh 240 lbs. Which size should I buy? According to your size chart G-L looks like the right size but from the Q & A's you recommend different.

Based upon my experience with the 4X size I can say it ran VERY short in the
body but girth was about what I expected.

      A:

      I am 5'6" with a 36 - 38 waist and 195lbs. I have this in medium and it
is a little loose on me around the middle so it might fit you well.
On the other hand, the non-grizzly styles don't even come close.
If I would you, I'd take advantage of NRS's "try" policy - order both
the M and the L, then keep the one that fits the best and send the other
      back for a prompt refund.

      Hi:
      The GL should fit.
I'm short at 5'5", but need the extra space around the stomach area.  the GL fit snug, but was comfortable .  The L was not as comfortable to sit in.l

      Michael -
      I have the G-M. I'm 5'6 and 185. I'm very comfortable in it - it's almost
a tad large. It will probably be snug on you, but you might want to try it.
By the way, I love it - a versatile piece of equipment.

      Fellow Shopper.
All I can say from my experience is that the sizing chart appears to be right-on target.  So I would say the G-L looks right for you.

Michael, you're on that cusp between the two sizes. The G-M will probably work, but depending on your body the larger size may be better. The fastest way to find out is order both sizes and keep the best fit. Our returns are easy and free.

Sharpy, our Customer Service Manager, who's a triathlete, says this will work but the Grizzly Wetsuit, Item # 17269.01, gives better coverage in that cold water. She also recommends the Sea Hood, # 15027.01, for extra protection.

I'm guessing you could find clothing like that in a bike shop. Wetsuits
and dry suits are there to keep you warm/alive in cases of prolonged
immersion. The HydroSkin Spring Suit might closer to what you want then
      the Little John Wetsuit.

This Wetsuit will be too warm to swim laps. You could possibly use the
long sleeve hydrosilk shirts to keep your core warm while swimming laps.

Our "Grizzly" sized suits are built with more internal room for larger folks. What you need is our regular Little John, Item # 17259.02. From just the height and weight measurements you give I suspect the Large will fit you just fine, but also look at the chest and waist measurements.

      Hello,
I'm 6' tall and also about 310. It fits fairly well, my wait is about 50", my chest is probably not quite 56" but I have room in the chest, and with the sleeveless design make the chest and shoulder have all the manueverabity you need.

Comments about NRS Little John Grizzly Wetsuit:

Bought this to use as a thermal layer when kayaking in cold weather. The grizzly fit is great for my circumference, but just a tiny bit short. It would be improved by the ability to add extensions to the shoulder straps as other products sold here feature.

I have put on many pounds since I started paddling 40+ years ago and the old suit wasn't comfortable. Got this one and used it for 3 days in North Georgia. Felt like a second skin. Best I can say is that I never noticed it until I took a spill on the Cartecay when I really appreciated the warmth. Happy to have it and happy to recommend to other paddlers.

Used on the Saint Francis River in Missouri in open whitewater canoe. The Little John Grizzly by NRS was super comfy to wear in the canoe and did not cut into me at bend points or restrict movement in any way. The dual pull zipper by ykk is a great feature. Thank you NRS for a great product.
