Replacing a drysuit zipper is not DIY, and it's a very expensive repair. Preventative care, such as like regularly cleaning and lubricating drysuit zipper teeth, will help preserve zipper health. Also, using good techniques to roll and fold the drysuit for transportation to and from the water will help prevent fatal damage. In this instructional video, NRS Repairs guru Josh Gile goes over all the tips for ensuring that the zipper will last the life of your drysuit.

Linda, the socks are attached, an integral part of the suit.

      A:

The "booties" are attached but there are of the same thin material as the
suit. You still need to wear actual booties over the suit.

      A:

The booties are attached. The whole suit is so airtight you have to "burp" it by pulling the neck gasket a little away from your neck and crouching down to get the air out. Otherwise you look like the Michelin man and it's not safe - you can get trapped in your boat by the excess air.

    Q:

I'm wondering if the dropseat zipper ever tends to get in the way while sitting. I'm a whitewater canoeist and sit in an open boat outfitted with foam blocks around my hips while I straddle a foam saddle. Has this zipper design been troublesome for either kayakers or canoeists?

      A:

Kristina, the two main differences are the Limited Edition model has a rear entry zipper, across the top of the shoulders. The Meridian has a cross-chest front zipper. Also, the Limited Edition has some burlier Cordura Gore-Tex on the arms, shoulders and legs.

Comments about Kokatat Women's Gore-Tex Meridian Drysuit with Drop Seat - WGMED:

I had a kokatat drysuit in the past. Purchased it used and I just sold it to someone else (who loves it). They don't wear out and you can always get new gaskets to fit. This one has more bells/whistles and I am still wearing it due to cold water temps and feel confident in it knowing it is waterproof and I can always count on Kokatat for quality. If you have a tight fit in your boat for rolling and/or better leg/thigh control, you may experience irritation from the drop seat zipper in the hip area. The zipper area is bulky.

Comments about Kokatat Women's Gore-Tex Meridian Drysuit with Drop Seat - WGMED:

This is an awesome dry suit. The lower edge of the zipper across the chest falls under the edge of my spray skirt tunnel and under my PFD, so there is an area that sort of pinches and a times hurts depending on my position. All other aspects of this product have been excellent.

Comments about Kokatat Women's Gore-Tex Meridian Drysuit with Drop Seat - WGMED:

I use my drysuit for kayaking year round due to the cold water of the Nantahala River. It's very comfortable except for the drop seat zipper which is awkwardly placed for kayak hip pads and very hard to unzip. In retrospect I would get the men's and use a funnel. The suit keeps me dry from river water but I've been wearing Hydroskins under it and I sweat a lot when the air temperatures are high. A friend of mine uses the Kokatat one-piece fleece liner and likes that.
