    Q:

What temperature is this best suited for? Will 90+ degree weather really be too hot for this?

This shirt is too warm for 90+ degree weather. Consider the short sleeve version. If you are snorkeling, this shirt would be perfect!!

I wear this shirt as sun protection on desert rivers, even on days when temps top 90 degrees.   I don't think it's too hot, but I do tend to get cold easily.   Besides, you can always roll, or swim if you need to cool off.  ;-)  Seriously, when it's wet, it dries quickly enough to allow efficient evaporative cooling.

I've worn this shirt in 110-degree Grand Canyon temps and been so grateful I wasn't frying from sunburn. It wicks very well so as long as I've been hydrated and sweating I've felt comfortable.

Depends on what you'll be doing. If you'll be in the water a fair amount, or in rapids/waves it 'll be fine. If you're going to be sup'ing, recreational kayaking, or just hanging on the beach, it'll be too much.

      Hi Sue:
Both my wife and I are avid kayakers and have Long sleeve NRS Hydrosilk
shirts in our gear. It is a great shirt for an underlayer or to wear in
warmer weather for sun protection. If you are going to wear it as an
underlayer, I'd go with the small. If you are going to wear it over a
swimsuit top for sun protection I'd go with the medium. It is very
      stretchy.
Hope this helps and Happy Paddling!

I suppose only trying it on will tell. That said, they are made to be
tight fitting so that there is less drag in the water when wet. So I guess
it will either be a really nice and snug fit or maybe a bit loose.
      Good luck

I have found most Hydroskin/Hydrosilk to run on the small side. I too am between a small and medium. I ordered a size Small on sale and had to give it a friend with a slimmer silhouette. I know the idea is for the garment to fit close to the body, but I would advise ordering a size up. Great shirt when it fits!

These shirts tend to be a bit tight, so I would go to the next size up,
unless you will be underwater most of the time and want a really tight fit.

I am looking for a long sleeve top to keep me warm while I swim laps in the wintertime. I also want something that has a lot of mobility. Will this top help keep me warm or should I look at the mid weight layers?

      Hi Rachael,
This top will keep the sun off and would help with preventing jellyfish stings if ocean swimming, but it will not keep you warm.
In fact, in the summer, a top like this will keep you cool if it stays wet. Helpful on hot days rafting or kayaking.
I would use hydroskin long sleeve top for what you are planning, but there may be newer lightweight insulating choices as well.
Legs may also need to be covered...

      Rachel,
I have this top and I wear it to the beach to protect my skin from the sun, sometimes I get warm.  I wear it in an indoor pool while I play with my children. While I would not say this shirt keeps me warm (but I am not swimming laps, I am pretty much standing there), I am sure I am warmer than if I only had my bikini top on.  It is easy to move in this shirt.  I would think this would be warm enough for swimming laps - you do  not want to be too warm, right?
      Hope this helps,
      Jeanne

I wanted a shirt that dried quickly to wear on an 8 day river kayaking trip. I read the reviews of this shirt before I ordered and saw numerous comments about the tight fit, and the sizing chart mentioned that it was form fitting, so I was prepared for a snug fitting shirt. Plus, it was on sale. However the sleeves were really tight, and I don't have large arms. I could have lived with that but the neck really bothered me. It was what I would call a "mocklet" turtle neck (smaller than a mock) and no matter how much I pulled it down in front it kept pressing against my neck. It was uncomfortable to me and I ended up returning it. On the plus side, my return was processed very quickly.

This is a good coverall shirt for sun protection. The high neck (in comparison to a regular t-shirt neck) is a bonus for sunscreen purposes too, but sometimes irritating as its tightness is unexpected.

The NRS women's HydroSilk long sleeve shirt is an excellent product to protect you from sunlight and the wind. It fits to size. The arms and torso are also of the appropriate length (neither, too short or too long). The fabric material seems a bit thicker than that from similar products from other brands available in the market. Despite its relative thickness it is highly elastic keeping the garment close to your skin/swimsuit regardless whether it is wet or dry. I like it so much that I have several of them including those with short sleeves. I recommend them highly.
