  • Pelican Case - Replacement "O" Rings

    Q:

I have a 30 yr old Pelican case. The O-ring needed would fit a 12 inch x 18 inch rectangular opening (outside diameter) of an aprox. 1/4 thick O-ring. What number O-ring would I order?

      A:

The O-Ring sizes correspond to what number box you have, like 1200, or
1400. Just order one that has the same model number as your box.

      A:

Go to the Pelican website to determine which model case you have -- they
have exact internal and external dimensions which will allow you to identify
      your case. www.pelicancases.com
Then purchase a replacement O-ring for that specific model from NRS or, if
they don't have it, another supplier.

Doesn't fit the case. Simple. No rant.

Comments about Pelican Case - Replacement "O" Rings:

If you have an older Pelican case, do not throw away the parts you are replacing, until you have tested and made sure the replacement part fits.
It appears that manufacturing replacement parts has changed at Pelican and you may actually need a retro fit.

Comments about Pelican Case - Replacement "O" Rings:

The O-rinig replacements work as advertised. I tested the waterproofness after installation and it worked. The only problem is that the rings form a very tight seal and make closing and opening the box, especially in cold weather (with gloves) very difficult. It is best to install them and store the box closed for several months to break them in.
