    Q:

Does this river book cover the entire Main Salmon (to its confluence with the Snake)?

This map covers the Main Salmon from North Fork to Riggins. It does not
cover the Lower Main. Look for a map of Lower Salmon. I have a Lower
Salmon Boaters Guide. You can see a lot on Google Earth.

It only goes from the North Fork Town Site to Riggins. It looks like it's quite a ways to the confluence from Riggins.

The map coverage stops at Riggins. The next map would be the Lower Salmon.

Hi, I have this book. It covers the stretch known as "The Main" from North
Fork to Riggins. The traditional put-in is Corn Creek about 45 miles down
river from North Fork. Most people take out at either Vinegar Creek or
Carey Creek above Riggins. For the stretch from the Hammer Creek put-in at
Whitebird to the take out at Hammer Bar on the lower Snake you need the
guide book for the Lower Salmon. I have been unable to find a guide for the
stretch between Riggins and Whitebird probably because it is along a
highway, not wild and scenic and mostly bordered by private land and
therefore not very popular. You need a permit for the main but not for the
lower Salmon. They are really two different trips. Hope this helps. -Mark.

It does not, just goes to Riggins. This map is also not very detailed in regards to the actual river map, river miles are shown in 5 mile increments, not enough topographical info, nor detailed enough to truly follow each curve and bend. More detail is given in the river mile descriptions, but harder to see on the map. Apparently this book is also given by the River Office with the permit. The larger "River Maps, Guide to the Middle Fork and Main Salmon Rivers, Idaho (Boundary Creek to Carey Creek) 2nd Edition is much more detailed. Our friend who held the permit, also had a 3rd Salmon River Map that was much more detailed, even describing each rapid with actual drawings and run options.
      Hope that helps.

This book covers only what's commonly known as the Main Salmon, from Salmon,
ID to Riggins. You can get a guide for the Lower Salmon (White Bird to
Hellers Bar), called Lower Salmon River at the NRS website.
