- Repair parts are fitted in a water resistant dry box, with gasket-lined lid.
- This kit is intended to give you the basics to make an emergency on-the-water repair. See the parts list in Specs for the included items.
- Other items, such as Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) (sold separately), are recommended for more complete, long lasting repair jobs.
- If you do not have an NRS boat, some of the items, such as the valve parts, may not work on your boat.
A leaky pressure relief valve can reduce the performance of your inflatable raft or kayak. In this instructional video, the NRS Repairs Department shows you how to inspect, clean and fix your pressure relief valve so you can get back out on the water. The Leafield A6 Pressure Relief (PR) valve prevents damage that can be caused by over-inflation in NRS and other manufacturers' inflatables. All self-bailing NRS rafts and kayaks come with an A6 PR valve in the floor. A leaky pressure relief valve is usually caused when grit or debris impedes the seal.
Finding and fixing leaks in the valves on your inflatable raft, cataraft or inflatable kayak (IK) is an important skill for boaters. Here NRS repair guru Josh Gile demonstrates the steps with a Leafield C-7 inflate/deflate valve. You'll use basically the same steps with other types -- Leafield B-7, Halkey-Roberts, Summit and military valves.
It's important to master the skills and techniques of patching your urethane or PVC fabric inflatable boat. In this video the NRS Repairs Department goes over the step-by-step process for finding the leak, preparing the surface of the patch and boat, applying the glue and rolling on the patch. The use of Clifton Urethane Adhesive is demonstrated, but the same techniques work with Stabond Adhesive, Vynabond and other PVC/urethane-type adhesives. Using these methods you can also add D-rings, foot cups and wear strips to your boat.
Top-quality Leafield C7 valves are found in all current-model NRS rafts, catarafts, kayaks and SUPs, as well as many other inflatables. One of the advantages of the C7 valve is how simple it is to repair. In this Quick Tips instructional video, the NRS experts show you how to repair a Leafield C7 valve quickly and easily.
