Empty the bag is longer, as inflating it contracts the flat dimensions.
      Closer to 45-46 when empty.

    Q:

Will these bags fit in an 8foot 8 solo canoe? and do they measure out to be 48" bags?
Asked on 5/11/2014 by Meghan from COLORADO

      A:

Meghan, the measurements given there on the product page are with the bag fully inflated. When you compare those dimensions with that space in your canoe, remember that if the bag is larger than the space, even partially inflated it will fill the space.

I think both as the seams do not expand with inflation. They fit nicely into my
      solo Dagger Prophet.

The seams are the same whether inflated or deflated. The length and width
may tighten slightly when inflated but will not affect the fit.

The dimensions for length & width ( 42" & 40" ) are deflated. The 24" depth would be when the float bag is inflated. Hope this helps. I have these bags in both of my white water solo canoes and they are bomber.Tom LawsonColorado

      A:

I believe it would be inflated size. My canoe is only 25” wide and 15” deep. The length of the inflated air bag in my canoe is 42 inches. I have lacing across the top of the canoe even with the gunnels that restrain the height as installed.

Comments about NRS Canoe 3-D Short Solo Float:

I bought these short solo float for my Esquif Vertige solo canoe, to be able to put my 2-60 liters barrel in the canoe. And it`s perfect for my uses. I have also old long solo float, but they deflated rapidly. So i`m going to call NRS to repair them.

Comments about NRS Canoe 3-D Short Solo Float:

It's hard to get excited over a float bag, and I'm not. It does what it's suppose to do. The material seems thin compared to other bags but will wait & see how it lasts. NRS has a great return policy so I'm not concerned.

Comments about NRS Canoe 3-D Short Solo Float:

I had my old air bags for a number of years and always had to get out the leaf blower to fill the bags before each paddling trip. When I went to the NRS web site to order new bags, I discovered that NRS air bags have a lifetime guarantee. The new bags cost me nothing! It's wonderful to be able to load my canoe onto the truck without first dragging out the leaf blower. The bags are already full! The folks at NRS are great to work with. Thanks NRS.

I replaced a smaller front bag on my tandem canoe. It's not really made for this, however i can still get a front passenger in the boat with more then enough room. Super strong construction, would recommend to anyone.
