    Q:

Is this a good life-jacket for white water kayaking? I need a very short lifejacket so that I can bend freely in my kayak,

My wife doesn't kayak.... But the vest is short. She likes it.

Should work well for you, it's a low-profile jacket. 12" high in front, 14" in back.

      A:

It's short, but a bit bulky in the front and back. More like a heavy duty
rescue vest than a rodeo one.

Comments about Astral Women's Wonderjacket 200 PFD - Closeout:

Uses: rafting/duckie-ing, not more than class 3 or 4 (a 5 if I'm in the wrong place at the wrong time). Comfortable, like the fuzzy hand warmer pockets, pockets on front are convenient. Easy to put on, etc. The only issue I notice is the lash tab for a knife is *inside* the zipper. First I thought to attach the knife sideways with the handle sticking out of the pocket, but it gets in the way and if you ever pulled out the knife, I think it would cut the jacket on the way out. I ended up lashing it to one of the side straps, so I think it will work there, but it's just such a weird spot to put the lash tab, maybe it was a factory error? I did buy the PFD on clearance. Otherwise, it fits comfortably, definitely more "woman shape" friendly than non female specific PFDs I've tried. It's only been on short trips so far, so I don't know about long term comfort or durability.

      Nice, but not for me

Comments about Astral Women's Wonderjacket 200 PFD - Closeout:

Ended up returning. The wrap style could not be adjusted tight enough and so the sides protruded too far out and too high for me. As a result my arms rubbed on the sides when paddling.

I am a short (5'3") and "fluffly" female with short arms, and I use a sit-on kayak, so perhaps those were factors. Oh, wait, I'm not short, I'm normal!

        Service and delivery comments:

Service was OUTSTANDING. We chatted for a while about options and requirements. Not their fault it didn't fit right--most things don't fit right on me. Very fast delivery and easy return.

Comments about Astral Women's Wonderjacket 200 PFD - Closeout:

I wear this jacket when I'm guiding rafts and when paddling in my kayak. It fits perfectly in the chest for females, and doesn't contrict your range of motion. I love the lash tab inside the fleece pocket on the front because my knife doesn't get caught on the safety line when I'm pulling myself back into my raft, or loading boats. Very comfortable, and easy to adjust!
