The NRS Side Rail Racks are the perfect answer to extending your raft or cataraft's cargo carrying space. Strap gear to them, walk on them; they're super stout.
  • Strap dry bags, ammo cans, tackle boxes, Pelican cases, anything you can think of, to your Side Rail Racks.
  • These racks are made with 8 inch by 6 or 3 foot piece of 3/4 inch Skidguard marine grade plywood. The surfaces of the plywood are covered with durable plastic laminate. The upper surface has a grippy texture.
  • The Skidguard is connected to the side rails with two LoPro Fittings. The short stubs of frame pipe affixed to the LoPros are attached to the Skidguard with countersunk carriage bolts.
  • The Side Rail Racks do not interfere with Oar Mounts or frame cross members.
  • They can lay on top of crossbars, footbars and seat bars. When supported by cross members they make great walking surfaces.
  • The heart of the NRS frame system, the LoPro™ Fitting, just went high tech! Now made in drop-forged aluminum alloy; it's stronger and 25% lighter. Better product, same price... NRS innovation.

    Q:

I have a Bighorn II Fishing set up on a 14ft Odessey. For day floats with kids & non-fishermen I want to be able to take off the front raised fishing seat, add another cross bar and attach a flat seat to the two flat cross bars. Will these work as seats for that or do you have another product?

Bob, these racks won't work for that, but we use the same 3/4" Skidguard plywood we use in the Side Rail Racks to build bench seats that attach to a couple of cross bars. Give us a call, 800.635.5202, to discuss measurements and to order.

    Q:

I just ordered and received a 6-foot side rail. I like the non-slip material on the top surface. But, my question relates to durability. It doesn't appear as if the wood is treated to resist water; the edges look like raw plywood. Do I need to seal/treat the wood to prevent water damage?

Alan, the edges are not treated. While the marine-grade plywood naturally resist weathering, adding a water-seal coating to that surface is a good idea.

    Q:

The specs say the board is 8" wide, how far do they extend off of the side bar? I have a 54" frame, with a 35" cooler, and want to know if these will fit on each side of that. Thanks.

      A:

The overall width is 11inches from "outside of frame to outside of deck" - at least on my set up.
I have the NRS Bighhorn II frame and 66" wide so no issues with any of the bays regarding coolers, dry boxes, etc.
Good luck, they are really great decks. I used to make my own on old steel frames, but these are superior and good value in my opinion.

I put my side rails on the outside. They make great storage and don't interfere with coolers. You can always return them if they don't fit.

    Q:

Are these compatible with a down river frame?

      A:

I believe Down River Equipment uses 1.9" OD pipe in all their frames. Our pipe is 1 5/8" (1.625") OD. So, unfortunately, our LoPros won't fit over the DRE pipe.

    Q:

Are these side rail racks compatible with the cataraft anchor system?
Asked on 4/14/2014 by Andrew from United States

      A:

Andrew, the Side Rail Racks don't work on sections of the frame where the anchor system components are mounted. In other words, you can put the racks on the left side of the frame and in front of the foot bar on the right side, but not from the foot bar on back on the right side.
