Clean and Care for Your Inflatable SUP Board

Proper cleaning and maintenance will help prolong the life of your inflatable SUP board. Learn from the experts at NRS how to wash your board, protect it from sun damage and repair common valve problems.

NRS SUP boards are built tough for many years of on-the-water fun and adventure. Like any outdoor gear, taking a few common-sense maintenance and care steps will help ensure trouble-free trips on the water.

To prevent unnecessary wear be sure to clean and dry the board before transport and storage. It’s good to rinse the board with fresh water after each outing, especially if it has been in saltwater. To remove soil, river scum and travel grime, wash with soap and water, or use Inflatable Boat Cleaner.

The PVC material is quite UV-resistant, but it pays to treat the board a couple of times a year with 303 Aerospace Protectant, a great gear sunscreen. Using it more than that is not necessary and could cause damage.

Avoid getting moisture inside the board; it will breed mildew and cause premature wear. If you do get moisture inside, lock the valve open and blow dry air inside with a pump or vacuum exhaust until the inside is dry.

If your board loses air, inflate it fully and spray it with a soap and water solution, starting with the valve. Sometimes a bit of debris can get stuck on the valve’s sealing surface. Usually this can be dislodged with a burst of air by pressing briefly on the valve stem when the board is fully inflated. If there’s still a leak, lock the valve open and use a cotton swab moistened with 303 Protectant to clean the surfaces. If you still have a leak, watch the video on Find and Fix Inflatable Boat Valve Leaks. Please reach out to our friendly customer service team with any questions on care, maintenance and repair.
