The ECO-Safe Toilet System excels as a highly portable, reusable system. The crushproof plastic tank is good for 50 uses at one time. Meets BLM, NPS and USFS requirements. The 1998 Mt. Everest Cleanup Project chose the ECO-Safe Toilet for use on their expedition.
  • The system includes one tank, seat assembly, 3" cleanout hose and washout hose adapter.
  • The rotomolded plastic tank is crushproof. It has rounded corners for easy cleaning. The tank inner dimensions are 16.5" x 7" x 11" Tall. It holds 5.5 gallons, good for approx. 50 uses and fits inside a 20mm "rocket" box.
  • The comfortable toilet seat, with lid, locks onto the tank. The flange under the seat funnels waste into the tank. At 17" above ground level, the seat is as high or higher than your home toilet.
  • The system meets all requirements of the BLM, NPS and USFS for a washable, reusable toilet. It empties easily at an RV dump or in a Scat Machine.
  • Many boating areas now require you to carry out human waste. Even for those that don't, the removal of waste products protects the environment.
Always check ahead with the area management agency to find out what they require for carry out systems.

A great improvement over older systems!

    Comments about ECO-Safe Toilet System:

Replaced discharge hose with 3" ABS or PVC elbow (commonly found at hardware stores) - this is easier to clean! (honestly, I never used the flex hose that comes with the unit because it looks like it would never come clean after using)
Spray the insides of the tanks with cooking oil (e.g. "Pam") BEFORE your trip - this will make cleanup much easier!
Add some diluted "holding tank deodorant" (blue fluid concentrate usually comes in 8 oz. bottles) just prior to first use and as you close up the system each day.
Don't use scouring pads, as this will scratch the smooth surfaces and make the stuff stick even worse on your next trip.

The container tank will need it's own rocket box, with very little room left over. The seat is designed to fit a rocket box as well, with extra space for TP and cleanup supplies. The seat assembly doesn't really need this level of protection, so I see the second box as optional. In my 14' raft, I like to minimize the use of rocket boxes, so what works well for me is a special dry bag for the seat, TP and cleanup supplies.

      Comments about ECO-Safe Toilet System:

Have not used yet. No expectation of any problems.

      Service and delivery comments:

Delivery was prompt, box it comes in is insufficient to withstand shipping. Box was damaged but content was in good condition, which seems to suggest river travel will not harm it either.

Does the whole unit fit in the Rocket Box or just the container?

Just the container. I put the seat in an old backpack.

I believe you will need two R boxes to contain the whole system .. You don't have to spend $40.00 on a box either , look around the Mill-surp sites and get them for half price. You may have to do some sanding and painting , but I'd say worth the savings.

after the trip. I put the seat in its own dry bag.

The toilet seat will fit in a separate rocket box. This would protect it from damage.

The container fits in the rocket box. With the box open, the toilet seat and lid attach the the top of the container. They do not fit inside the rocket box.
Please excuse the brevity, sent on the go.

Just the container. I bought two 20mm containers... one for the container and one for the toilet seat, latex gloves, digestive enzymes, extra tp, sani wipes, and whatever else you want to put in it.

The tank fits in one rocket box. The seat can be carried loose, or in a bag, or in a second rocket box.

The tank fits very snugly in a "rocket box." The seat will also fit in a rocket box, with extra room for toilet paper and other accessories.

Only the tank fits inside a rocket box. The seat, etc must be stored separately.

Just the bottom container. Need a second rocket box for the seat but generally use it to stash cleaning supplies, bleach wipes toilet paper and gloves etc.

Friends don't let friends poop drunk. Seriously, it's about the height of a household toilet and it's pretty stable. Mounting the tank in a "rocket box" ammo can increases the stability.
