We’re on a mission to break down barriers to the outdoors

With the Just Add Water Project we are putting our values into action by supporting activists and organizations in building an inclusive paddlesports community of the future, creating new advocates for conservation, and protecting the health of, and access to, our shared lands and waters. It’s about building pathways for new entrants to paddlesports, developing leaders from diverse backgrounds, and sustaining the work of organizations serving underrepresented communities and advancing conservation causes.

This is a long term, sustained effort aimed at building strong, durable relationships with those out there doing the hard work to make lasting change. We’re proud to work with a growing group of people and organizations, to continue to hold ourselves accountable and keep integrating these stories into the fabric of our company and community.

Who we are

In 2019, NRS launched the Just Add Water Project social sharing campaign, aimed at cultivating a more inclusive paddlesports community. Last year, we evolved it into an industry-wide conversation with Faith Briggs and Adam Edwards to explore how we can build a more welcoming and inclusive sport for the future. In 2021, we’re turning talk into action by helping to create an infrastructure to support those goals now and into the future. It’s about building pathways, helping new leaders develop, putting pieces in place to allow our sport and community to become more accessible, inclusive and welcoming for new enthusiasts coming into the outdoors.

At NRS, we believe that the more people who get to know our rivers, lakes and oceans and fall in love with them, the more advocates there will be to speak up for those places and our access to them. Conservation has been a pillar of our company’s involvement in the outdoors and always will be. With the Just Add Water Project, we’re deepening our commitment to conservation, knowing that environmental and social justice are inextricably connected.

Thank you for all that you do to break down barriers to the outdoors. Please continue to share your stories with us and invite your friends to join the conversation by tagging #JustAddWaterProject on social media.
