Does this seat come in the color black?

The seat only comes in the gray color.

NRS advertised a black seat a few months ago (at an attractive price) but maybe sold out of that model. If you think about it, a black seat in the hot sun will get pretty hot also. Hence, the gray color is probably a little better choice. I'm glad I opted for the lighter color. Hope this helps.

Can this seat be mounted on a cooler or dry box.

Easier on a dry box than a cooler. For years I mounted my seat on a piece of plywood and strapped it on top of the dry box. Now I use the Flip Seat Mount, and I'm loving it!

      A:

If you mean directly to the lid of either, anything is possible. I recently bought the flip type mount that attaches to the frame for the same seat from NRS. It was spendy, took a long time to justify, but am really happy with it. My old Hypalon rafts have seats that are mounted on an 'L' shaped piece of ½" plywood. They are held on with two 6' straps attached to the frame & looped over the plywood. It works fine but it is inconvenient to get into the cooler/dry box. The plywood mount is easy & cheap to make. You need to attach 1"x1" boards (3 ea) on the under side of the 16"x24" horizontal plywood with a 3 or 4" vertical piece of plywood on the leading edge. Hope this helps.

you can if the lid of the dry box is secure.. with a dry box that fix tight into my puma i can sit my fly fishing guest in the back of the boat without the weight of a full frame and can move it in and out fast without too too much trouble.Al

I would not mount it directly on a dry box due to the stress on the lid. I have this seat mounted on a flip bracket which applies the weight to the tubes on either side of the box. I have one made by DRE and one from Clavey. Both work well.

Comments about Low-Back Plastic Drain Hole Seat:

The only thing I could say I don't like is that NRS doesn't have a seat slider kit for this seat , Otherwise this seat is comfortable , well thought out. I love that is has a drain hole. The low back is great for rowing.

Comments about Low-Back Plastic Drain Hole Seat:

The back of the seat does not conform well to my back. It should have more curvature to it. I tried to change it with a heat gun and clamp, with marginal success. The seats are much lighter than older models with a metal base. Time and experience will tell if it will hold up as well as the metal-based version. The old high-back model has more depth (front to back) than this seat. I wish this seat had similar depth measurement. Perhaps an option is to find an actual lawn tractor or similar seat.

Comments about Low-Back Plastic Drain Hole Seat:

This seat is better than the previous model, which was not durable. This seat appears to be well built, and it's comfortable. The lowback seat is also better than the highback seat, because it doesn't interfere with your PFD like a highback seat does.
