when it says self-adhesive, will I need glue? I want to have the best hold possible, but would also rather not spend the money on the glue if I don't need it.

I stuck these on 4 month's ago and have used the kayak almost every weekend
and they are still stuck. I used some 400 sandpaper and then brake cleaner
and there still holding. Hope this helps you out.

Trevor, go with the self adhesive by itself. Carefully site where you want them and thoroughly clean the area you are sticking them to before applying them.
