I wanted a high back pfd because of my high back kayak seat. I thought being designed for women it might be fairly trim but it was way too bulky and thick. I was afraid this was a necessity because of the high back but later found another brand that did not feel as bulky, so returned this product.

Comments about NRS Women's Zoya Mesh Back PFD:

I bought this jacket for my wife. She had a ninja pfd and that was fine with her recreational kayak but it road up with her new touring kayak. She wanted a mesh back like mine, also NRS, and she loves it. Told me to give a 5 star review. this was my 8th purchase from NRS and there will be more in the future.

I use this PFD kayaking, and am comfortable in it. I would certainly have given it a 5 if it was less bulky. However, having made that comment, I've not found it to impede my paddling. It just "feels" bulky. I'm extremely pleased with all of the adjustable straps, and the high back. It fits perfectly with my high back seat. Also, I'm short (5'2"), and it isn't too long for me when sitting in the kayak.

How are the shoulders adjusted? Are those velcro straps, or is that just a cover for clips or ? Hope not velcro, that's a nightmare for us long-haired gals. thx

                Lynn,
Just looked at the adjustments for the shoulder straps on my wife's Zoya
PFD and they are backpack style plastic buckles. So should not be a
                problem catching your hair.

You simply pull down on the straps to tighten, and lift up on the clips to loosen the straps.

No Velcro. This is a well made well designed vest. I bought this for my
wife and she finds it very comfortable even when wearing it for extended
periods of time. She also likes that it has a few small pockets for
                personal items.

There is no Velcro on this life jacket. The straps are adjusted with plastic buckles that are around the back of the shoulder.

The shoulder straps are not Velcro. They are adjustable buckles and the
loose end of each strap tucks into an elastic band to keep it from flapping
around. Great all around comfortable life jacket for women.

Lynn, the shoulder adjustment is a ladder-lock buckle. You can see it by looking at one of the photos of the back of the jacket.

Hi I just received this PFD in the mail yesterday, so I¹ve tried it on,
but not tested it yet. I purchased the XS/M and when I have it adjusted for
myself, it is 21² from my shoulder to the bottom of the foam in front, and
23² to the bottom of the waist. I am 23² from my shoulder to waist. I am a
bit skeptical of the foam shape ³for women² -- the interior basically has a
shelf, with the foam 1 1/2² at the upper torso (for ³the girls²), and 2 3/4²
in the lower part below your breasts. However, if I don¹t have the PFD
adjusted just right the shelf wants to sit at mid-breast. (I¹m a B/C cup ‹
this might work better for those better endowed). I need to try this on in
the boat to see how the PFD will ride in use. It does have a lot of freedom
for your arms. I¹m not as impressed with the manufacturing quality as with
                my old Kokatat vest, however.
                I hope this helps!

                well.
Since this is a women's specific vest the flotation material in the front
is thinner at the top which helps it to fit a woman's build better.
