I do recreational lake and river kayaking. This was bought for me as a gift so I can extend the season. I often go out alone and will use this to prevent hypothermia in case of an unintentional wet exit.

I can't comment on the warmth in the water. The fit however is just right for me. I am a large guy 5'10" at 245. It's very comfortable and warm out of the water. One last thing. I have an odd body type. I have avg legs with a very long torso. The bottom half fits great but if you're like me buy some of the shoulder extensions for a custom fit.

Love NRS but not this product. With all the very stretchable and superior comfort wetsuit material options on the market, a better mix of material could be developed. Especially considering the target market. I am 5'10" 235lb. 48" chest 40" waist 32" inseam and should fit right in the G-L range on the size chart. I did not foresee the need for extenders as I have a somewhat shorter than average torso. This suit was both to tight and to short. Extending the shoulder adjustment at all exposes the uncomfortable side of the velcro as I tried everything to be reasonably comfortable. Just to small. I would really like to see a higher quality design with use of more stretchable panels and maybe lose the velcro shoulder straps.

Used mostly in the spring and fall over the last 3 years for installing or removing dock and marine railway. Large size fits reasonably well (only company I could find that had large enough sizes). Can work fairly long time in quite cold water (Lake Ontario in May) Really good service from NRS.

I am 6-2 280 and wondering what size Grizzly to get.. and if its too small can I send it back and get a different sized one without being penalized?

Don't worry about buying too small, worry about too big. I'm 6'5" 300.
Bought a 4XL "Grizzly" suit, and bought the should strap extenders too. I
wish I had bought a 4XL regular, not "Grizzly". Didn't need the strap
extenders either. I've got an athletic build 56" chest, 40" waist. I suggest
a 4XL regular, unless you have a belly - then get grizzly.

That is a 3XL, I weigh 15 lbs more than that and have a 54" chest, You will
want the extenders that work like the straps on bib overalls only with
velcro, it buys you the needed torso and room where it is needed.
Enjoy yours, I really do like my wetsuit.

Heck ya, I surf in mine all the time, but that's on the river or in my
flatwater kayak catching a wave or two. I think you are wondering about
catching a wave on a surf board. I don't see why not. I wouldn't think
that slow speed falls like surfing would be a problem, while high speed
falls like water-skiing may be a problem. The neck or arm holes may
billow during high speed falls and slow you down faster than is healthy.
Anyway, that's my two cents worth.

              Short answer - they don't.
I have scuba gear and whitewater gear. Whitewater gear does not work for
scuba - it is too loose. Scuba gear does not work for paddling - it is
              too tight.

It's not really a dive suit.
The snaps on the shoulders might chafe
              with a tank harness.
That said the fit is great if you are built
like me 5'7" and 250 lbs.
              I use mine for paddling.

If you are grizzly sized and wear a full farmer john wetsuit, then why
would this suit not work well! I love the fit and it is great for scuba,
nuch better than having to wrestle an undersized rental suit over my
grizzly body. This is a very good product.

Jeff, they would probably be fine for shallow diving. But they are only 3 mm neoprene and would compress too much for deeper diving. They are designed for warmth protection in surface immersion.

I never used it for scuba... only white-water rafting. But it's a great product!!! Extremely well-made, durable, and fits great!! I think it would work fantastic for scuba.

Hi! I need more info on sizing. I want the suit for kayaking so do not want to feel like a boa constrictor is around me while paddling. Male, six feet tall 215 #, chest 44, waste 40.

Grizzly suit in the right size will work for you.
Look at the sizing chart that NRS provides.

The NRS Grizzly is a great wetsuit for the full-size person. It is one
of the most comfortable fitted wetsuit , allowing the freedom of
movement and when it gets too hot, I zip it down to my waist and pull
the shoulder straps down to my waist for comfort.

I would go with the large, you may find out you need to add the extenders
              once toy try it on.

Stephen, except for the waist measurement you'd be a candidate for the XL or XXL in our other wetsuits. The Large (GL) in the Grizzly would probably work for you. Check our Dealer Locator - http://www.nrsweb.com/services/dealerlocator.asp?tn=281 - to see if one near you may have the suits to try on. If not, our returns are easy and free.
