    Q:

Will my throw rope fit in the chest? I have a two year old model with a new Astral throw rope. If so where does it fit in? In the clam shell or behind it?

There should be room behind the clam shell for a small throw bag. I believe this space is designed for such a purpose. There will not be room for a throw bag in the clam shell.

Depends on how big your throw rope bag is. The throw rope should fit in
the chest cavity of the vest. I have the 2013 Astral Greenjacket and my
rope fit just fine in the chest cavity of this jacket. The older model
jacket has a bigger cavity, so I know a personal throw bag should work.

Are you talking about a rescue throw bag or a tow system? A small wedge
style bag like the Nrs wedge will fit in the clam shell pocket. I wouldn't
recommend that as placement. I'd use the quick release snap on the front,
for faster access. Now if you are talking about a tow system or short
teather, the side pockets will work great, look at some reviews on YouTube.
It's a great vest highly I highly recommend it.

There is a stretchy mesh type thing behind the chest piece so you wouldn’t have to put it in in the clam shell. It holds a throw bag quite securely; if you want a zipper to hold it in there is not one back there. I own the PFD but have not seen or used an astral throwback. I bought a small NRS throw bag and it fit behind the panel but it made my PFD stick out way too much and wasn’t comfortable. If the astral throw bag is around 2 and 2.5 inches thick I think it may fit comfortably. My nrs one is 3-4 inches thick. Width and length don’t matter so much. The mesh behind there is fairly sizable. It’s just if there is a ton of thickness between you and the vest where I would see it becoming a problem.

The rope doesn't go in the clam shell. There is a specific pocket with
expandable mesh behond that area, closer to your chest.

      Hi,
It is a pull over. To makes it a side entry you would have to undo side adjustment straps which appear not to be set up for that.
      Hope that helps.

I heard somewhere that the pictures with buckles were either an early
prototype or only available out side of the USA. It the latter, I'm
guessing the buckles didn't pass the certification tests for a US Rescue

Evo, the Greenjacket's inner panel fits below the breast area and the outer panel is adjustable, so you should be able to get a good fit. With life jackets it's always best to try them on first. Check our Dealer Locator - http://www.nrsweb.com/services/dealerlocator.asp?tn=281 - to see if a store near you has the jacket. If that's not possible, we have a great returns policy.

I can't speak from experience, but by loosening the two pocket flap straps
all the way, the straps that go around the body should be able to fit under
the chest and snugged first. Then pull the pocket straps until the chest
      is snug but not painful.

Sonz, if we don't have one of our dealers (http://www.nrsweb.com/services/dealerlocator.asp?tn=281) in your area, go with the M/L. The larger size will allow you to add layers and bulkier paddling tops.

Is this a limited edition greenjacket?
I ask because it obviously does not look like the normal greenjacket, but I also looked at all of the limited edition greenjackets and none of them look like this one. So my question is, where is this coming from? I do not see astral selling it, or any history of them making it or anything.

Astral works hard to keep improving and innovating with their life jackets. This is the latest version of the popular Greenjacket. The main improvement is the large "clamshell" pocket (which first appeared in the Sea Wolf jacket), with its five inner compartments for organizing rescue gear.

        Comments about Astral Greenjacket PFD:

You can really tell this is a great PFD. Loads of straps to custom your fit. One major deal for me was that you have to pull the jacket on and off over your head. Not having a zipper to put the jacket on and off easily is a major pain. I had to loosen all the straps just to get it off and then back on again. Everything else is bomber but can't have a jacket that is so hard to get on and off. Had to return it. At that price is has to be perfect.

I've tried the old generation Greenjacket and I prefer this one because of the giant new zipper pocket.

Only gripe is the awesome zipper is a bit weak. I find myself being careful opening and closing the zipper because it doesn't flow smoothly when opening and closing. It seems like it can break if you are rough with it.
