Seam not sewn / poor quality control

Comments about NRS Men's HydroSkin 1.5 Jacket:

Part of a seam completely not sewn. For such expensive items they seem to be lacking in quality control ... makes me nervous about buying neoprene from NRS as what if a stitch is just barely sewn and falls apart a few wears later.

Comments about NRS Men's HydroSkin 1.5 Jacket:

I got it for Gauley season, it performed great, and has been good for spring so far. Bought this and the matching pants instead of a whole suit and am glad I did. I can mix and match depending on the conditions of the day. I like the zipper, makes it easy to get on and off, or cool down during a longer stop. The fleece liner is comfortable and helps with the extraction at the end of the day.

1.5 mil has been good for me but I have an extra layer of blubber to help me out.

Hopefully it's durable, well see how the CO season treats it.

Use this for rafting. Got caught in a two day weather system and I used it as a way to stay in the rain and not worry about being wet. Kept me quite warm and comfortable. I like the front zip much beterms than my old pullover.

          Q:

do these run true to size or do you have to go a bigger size like we had to with the older .05 hydroskin.

            A:

I've found the sizing is on par with normal clothing sizes. The fit on this jacket is meant to be "next to skin", so it is fairly tight. It also comes in a Grizzly size for boaters with extra mid-section flotation.

I wear a Mediun shirt, but purchased this one in Large and it fits perfect. Not too tight or baggy. I'm 5'10, 160.
            So go larger in size.

I wear a medium sport shirt, go to a large T Shirt when I am wearing a t shirt without a shirt over it, but wear this item in an extra large and it fits snugly. I am 5' 10, 183 pounds with perhaps a bit more gut than I should have. My h2 core silk weight shirt is a large and I have plenty of room in it. I hope that answers the question.

I never used the older .05 hydroskins so I can't compare with that but
I'm a pretty thin build (38" nipple line, 35" waist) and wear a large
t-shirt. I ordered the large and it fits perfectly.

            Sir, Ms.,
I have top and bottom. Fits snug, as it needs to for a water insulating
garment. Next size up would be too loose and might allow water to
circulate. NRS will exchange if you need a different size.

But a larger size for SURE! They are skin tight. If you want to wear a lightweight shirt underneath, which my husband did, we had to buy one size up.

            best.
I usually wear an xl...got an xxl, fits perfect.

Too many variables to answer. Unheated in Death Valley or Woebegone, MN? How’s your tolerance for cold. I bought this jacket for scuba and whitewater rafting, but haven’t used it yet. I do like the fit and feel it doesn’t have much restriction on arm movement.

Probably not. This is not really a wet suit for swimming. Better off with
a tri suit. Arm movement would be better

Rob, suitability depends on temperature of the water, how active is your swim and your cold tolerance. The 1.0 and 1.5 HydroSkin are new. For years folks have been swimming in the 0.5 and most have found that weight provides good warmth for active swimming. If the pool is chlorinated be sure to rinse the garment thoroughly in fresh water after each session; the high chlorine content in most pools is very hard on neoprene.
