  • Paddle Drip Rings

    Q:

    Hello,

I am wondering what the inner diameter of these rings are. I have a paddle that's about 1 1/2" in diameter and don't know if these will fit judging by the reviews.

    Thanks

I have the drip rings installed on a 1.25 inch diameter shaft. That is the
maximum fit. I would not try them on a 1.50 inch diameter shaft.

I make the closed diameter about 1/16th of an inch more than 1 inch. It
could probably stretch out to work for 1 1/8" or a bit more, but I can't
imagine putting it on 1 1/2" paddle. (Unless it comes in a larger size than
mine.) (The picture looks just like mine.)

When the two halves of the gap are together, the inside diameter is 1". The material is a soft plastic that will open to 1 1/2". However, then there'll be an ~ 3/4" gap that will let some water through. Also, the included screw would then be too short, but you could cinch it up with a zip tie. Not ideal, but workable.

      Hey
I've gotten rid of the paddle it was on. I think my paddle was 3/4 or 1in. It was just a standard plastic kayak paddle can't remember the brand. It fit nice on my handles and I would recommend them. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
      Good luck!

    Q:

What is the inside diameter of the opening on these puppies? Or what range of paddle diameters will they securely fit?

    Many thanks,

I think most paddle shafts are 1" tube. I think the rings are 1" inside diameter. Keith

Probably fit up to 1 1/8. Depending on the screw length

      A:

Brian, the minimum diameter shaft would be 7/8". The plastic is very flexible and you could stretch it out until it was almost flat. So you could put it around a 1 1/2"D shaft, but then you'd have a wide gap in the ring that water would drip through. Also, if you go very large the bolts that snug it to the shaft won't fit.

Comments about Paddle Drip Rings:

After purchasing the drip rings I realized they were too small for 2 of my paddles. Werner Rio and Werner Disperado paddles will not work with these drip rings.

    Comments about Paddle Drip Rings:

I bought a set of these back in the 80's and made the mistake of lending one to a canoe paddling buddy; never to see it again! They work, unlike many knock off and poor imitations. Stay dry canoeing in cold weather and/or cold water. I have used them on Kayak paddles but prefer them on all our canoe paddles. It is so seldom anyone wears a wet suit in a canoe, the lack of water dripping down your arms is so appreciated.

These did not fit my Werner Desparado paddle - standard diameter. They are well constructed and attached with a stainless steel bolt and nut. They just weren't large enough.
