The K-Pump K-40 Hand Pump is the "little brother" of the K-400. Same great two-stage design, with both high-volume and high-pressure modes. More compact and easy to stow where space is limited.
  • The K-40 is the ideal choice for smaller boats - IKs, kickboats, etc.
  • Only 24" in length, 4" in diameter and 3 pounds in weight, it stows compactly.
  • The primary stage delivers approx. 1.2 gallons of air per stroke, filling your tubes quickly.
  • When the pressure in the chamber increases and pumping starts to become difficult, a simple twist of the handle locks out the high-volume primary stage and locks in the high-pressure "top-off" stage.
  • Nozzle end and included adapters fit most inflatable boat valves - Leafield, Halkey-Roberts, Summit, Boston, AD-2 and military valves.
  • Ergonomic design is comfortable to use, even with extended use.
  • Efficiently operated by one person. No hoses to kink and pull out.
  • Easily stowed, takes up little space.
  • Rugged construction is backed by an unlimited 2-year warranty.
  • All K-Pumps float!
  • A spare O-ring for each of the stages is included with the pump.
  • NOTE This pump comes with a check valve which allow you to use it to inflate military valves and the conical adapter that most air mattresses and pool toys require.
An Oregon family of whitewater boaters and fishermen designs these quality hand pumps. Assembled in a workshop facility for people with developmental disabilities.

    Q:

I'm looking for a new pump that will cover a few bases. We've got two tandem IKs- Innova Sunny and Aire Lynx, as well as two iSUPs- Hobie ATR and Advanced Elements. Currently use a Bravo foot pump for the IKs and a barrel pump for the SUPs. Trying to consolidate to one pump that is good for all, and more packable, as we travel with these and do some hike in paddling. Like the look of the K-Pumps. Any advice on best options?

I have a Yolo Inflatable SUP and I could never inflate it to full capacity with the pump that was supplied
with it. I bought the K-Pump and the dual plunger design does the trick. It is still work when you
go to the high pressure plunger, but not even close to how difficult the old pump was above 12 psi.
      I highly recommend this pump.

I gave the K-Pump 40 a test on one of our boards, put it up to 14 psi. You've got to lean into it to get that pressure, but you can go higher. The K-220 is easier at the high pressures, but about half the volume of the 40 in the low pressure mode.

I have this pump to inflate my 13 foot raft.
It takes a bit longer than with a barrel pump, but it's still plenty fast,
and the fact that it's a top-up pump as well is great.
MUCH smaller than a barrel pump.
      I love mine!

"hike in paddling" - never done that. Have done many fly in paddling trips in Alaska though, usually with one or two sets of a 12' inflatable kayak and a 14' cataraft (with other gear and people, perfect load for a Beaver on floats).
The K-40 is a fantastic pump and could be the one-size-fits-all pump. It easily inflates the 12' kayak and 14' cataraft with less fatigue and back strain than my barrel pump. And obviously much more easily that with a foot pump (I have used all three with both boats). The K-40 is currently the pump of choice to carry in my boat.
Sorry, I don't have any idea what one might need for or carry in/on/tether to a SUP. Can you carry a cooler on one of those things?

Go for the K pump, it's a prince among pumps. I use the K-40 for rafts and
catarafts. The two-stage is excellent for quick inflation, and then topping
off. Ask an NRS Tech which K pump is best for your IKs and ISUPs

The K Pump 40 is awesome! It packs in my drybag on the river, and has both high volume and high pressure for topping. I've been in commercial rafting for 16 years and bought all my own gear last year, finally. This is hands down the best, most versatile, and most compact pump I've ever used. I'm so happy I bought this pump!

        Comments about K-Pump 40:

I am very impressed with the versatility of this pump. The dual volume/pressure feature works very well. It is extremely easy to switch from the high volume mode to the low volume/high pressure mode. On high volume, I can pump the two 11 ft, 19 inch diameter tubes on my Culebra (shredder-like craft) up in about 15 minutes, including topping them off with the high pressure. Great design - simple and practical. I have another, smaller K pump, so I know how simple they are to maintain. Super rugged - built for action. Well worth the money if you need a versatile pump that is easy to transport and that will last many years. Highly recommended. Comes with several adapters - works very well with Leafield valves and others I have tried.

          Comments about K-Pump 40:

Use this to inflate my AIRE Strike. If pumped steadily, it takes three minutes to totally inflate and top off. My buddy had a K100 and I was impressed, but got the higher volume model in case our friends came along and we had to inflate three IK's (tandem Lynx and two Strikes).

Definitely more effort to pump, but boy is it FAST. It is a chunky monkey so we usually just carry the K100 on the river and leave the K40 at the put in. It is heavy but compact enough that you could carry it, if so desired.

Well made and I really like the dual stage feature. Near perfect pump for IK's.

            Comments about K-Pump 40:

I use this pump to inflate a GigBob and the pump works well but it is difficult to keep the pump from switching from the high pressure stage to the volume stage and vice versa. This is very disruptive when pumping.

Wow! I was a Professional Maine White Water Guide for 3 summers, and have been a Weekend Warrior Guide since then. In my 16 seasons of using 6", 5", and 4" barrel pumps for topping off boats and stowing on trips, I find the K-Pump 40 to be the professional and recreational rafters dream pump. It's capacity to inflate and top-off is amazing. The no-slip grip, dual capacities, and compact design make this best river pump I have ever used. I would recommend this pump to anybody in the rafting, shredding, an IK worlds. K-Pump nailed this one out of the park, for sure!! :)

              Comments about K-Pump 40:

For an inflatable kayak, this is the way to go. I was predisposed to get an electric pump, but after discussing with a rep chose to buy only the hand pump. It was the right choice. It fills the IK in a few non-fatiguing minutes. Since you need a top-off pump anyway, save the unnecessary expense of the motor.
