This video gives tips on how fit an adjustable bungee sprayskirt for a snug fit, while still allowing the skirt to be removed safely in a wet exit.

This is a simple basic sprayskirt suitable for calm to moderate conditions. I would not recommend in a windy situation with waves repeatedly sweeping across the deck. Water pools in the loose lower part of the tube and the weight pulls the tube down further. Unless you can stop paddling and clear the water I believe it would soon be running down the small of your back. Shoulder straps or suspenders would be a BIG help.

Comments about NRS Basic Nylon Sprayskirt:

My wife and I acquired a Prijon tandem and we use it a lot for guests. Paddling in SE Alaska with a spray skirt makes things a lot more enjoyable for people than without one. These are simple, easy and perfect for 1st-time paddlers to use.

    Service and delivery comments:

Delivery sucked. They were supposed to be overnight with FedEx. Apparently FedEx is now treating SE Alaska as a 3rd world country, as UPS has for years. This is not NRS's fault, but should be noted. We paid 40.00 extra for overnight shipping that turned into 7 days standard delivery. Several guests missed out on using these. We could have had them pick up at REI in Seattle on their way up here.

I've recently repurposed my old Perception Proline for flat water exercise paddling in the Marina deal Rey channel, and small wave surfing at the branch and this spray skirt was just what I was looking for. Fits the cockpit rim perfectly, very easy to pull on/off my torso and cinch up, light weight too. This is perfect for this particular application.

The product photo is different from the one in the video. The skirt I want looks like the one in the video (gray) and has an arched bar that keeps water from pooling in the lap, which is what many people complained about in your reviews. I don't want to order til I'm sure I'm getting the right product.

Lori, the video is demonstrating how to fit and adjust an adjustable bungee sprayskirt, The skirt in the video is the Catalina model, Item # 52555.02. The Basic Nylon does not have an implosion bar like the Catalina. If the Catalina doesn't fit your cockpit check out the neoprene deck models.

Hi, Lori. I purchased this product a few years ago when my daughter wanted to learn how to kayak. The sprayskirt is NOT like the one in the video. It's all black and there's no compression spring. Still a good skirt for beginners and is easy to pull off in emergencies.

This skirt will fit up to a 46" waist, but take a look at the Drylander Universal Skirt, # 52523.01. It fits up to a 50" waist and has a much nicer neoprene deck.

I measured mine, and laying flat (not stretched out), it is 23.5 inches, so it would fit at least 47 inches around. As far as I can tell, it should work for you.

Hi. I’m not sure if I have a large or not, but it doesn’t quite fit the plastic P&H boat I bought it for, but does fit the 18.5’ kevlar boat I usually paddle. Since Old Town seems to have huge cockpits in general, I doubt it will fit. I’d contact OT and ask them. I also prefer a skirt with shoulder straps. I love my Kokotat Gore-Tex skirt, but it’s definitely more money. Hope this helps

NRS Basic Nylon Sprayskirt - I got a Medium for a Current Design Suka Sea Kayak (18x32 cockpit).  The midriff is about 47" so 43" will work.  The 24" x 43" is beyond the sizing chart for a Large.  So the answer is no it will not fit a 24" x 43" cockpit.  Looks like a Medium NRS Catalina Sprayskirt  #2064 will fit the kayak (24x43).
