the titanium laminate inside suit is it glideskin or skin neo or is it fuzzy?

Harry, the titanium laminate refers to the adhesive that bonds the outside and inside fabric layers to the neoprene foam. We mix fine particles of titanium metal in the glue. Titanium is a shiny reflective metal and those particles reflect part of your body heat back to you, increasing the garment's warmth. The inside fabric on this suit is a smooth, finely woven nylon that's comfortable against the skin. The Ultra Jane Wetsuit, Item # 17274.02, has our VaporLoft lining, a fleece-like material that doesn't absorb water and feels very soft and warm on the skin.

The suit is extremely way to pull on and off. It is not fuzzy inside, inside is smooth like outside so I believe that is same surface material.

My size fits in the M range, but I have a long torso. Would you recommend moving up to the L ?

The medium fit me perfectly, so if you have a long torso, it may not.

        Answered on 5/21/2013 by Anonymous

No, it would be too large for you.

        Answered on 5/21/2013 by Anonymous

I fell between the XS & S but went with the XS. I too have a longer torso than legs and my suit is snug. I must pull the legs up as much as possible so the body fits. I would strongly recommend going with the bigger fit so that you are comfortable and have full range of motion.

Madeline, without your measurements I really can't advise you. Typically, weight is the best "tiebreaker" when there's confusion between sizes. Please give us a call, 800.635.5202, and ask to speak to one of our women sales reps. They are skilled at helping smooth out sizing issues.

Would you recommend this for a triathlon that is about 70 degrees water temp? And the swim is .62 miles? I was recommended to buy this by two people from REI. I am beginning to think from the research they don't know what they are talking about.

I use mine for whitewater kayaking in water closer to 50 degrees. This suit allows for good movement but you could go thinner (2m instead of 3m). Overall...good recomendation.

        Answered on 9/22/2012 by Anonymous

My guess is this is too much wetsuit for your swim. I think the 2 mil little jane shorty would be better. Less restriction on the legs, and with 70 degree water while your swimming hard you don't need a lot of added warmth.

Is this your best suggestion for a suit which would be used for swimming?

I would wear this swimming in cold rapids if I fell out of my kayak. I wear my 3mm "farmer jane" kayaking in the spring and fall. Anything thicker than 3mm is too much for swimming freely.

        Answered on 8/27/2012 by Anonymous

I bought this suit mainly for stand-up paddle boarding along with one of the long sleeve neoprene shirts. It's very comfortable and stretchy and very warm! This would probably be good for open ocean swimming where you need the extra warmth but not sure I would buy it for any kind of quick, triathlon swimming.

The HydroSkin Jane is great for swimming in moderately cold water. The material is very stretchy and doesn't restrict mobility.
