No they don't come with a pouch. The chord is long enough to thread
      through your sleeves.

I use them while ice skating. They are worn around your neck and threaded through the sleeves of your jacket for quick access.

      Hi Nickh
I have had these for years and I don't remember getting a pouch with them. I just pull the string thru my jacket sleeves and let them hang or tuck them back into my cuff. Hope this helps.

      Hi
Thankfully I have never had to use these. Today will be my 1st trip out on the ice this winter and hopefully I won't need them this year either.
      Yes they float
They have a nice long cord attached so you can string them from inside one sleeve to the other and stick them in your side pockets of your coat.
diameter is 1". 3.5" circumference. They have a flat spot on opposing sides with raised writing on them that helps give a better grip. there's also a little curved indentation at the top on both sides which I think would be for your thumb to rest in. although it doesn't seem to line up with the flat part for my fingers, but every ones hands are different.
They are made of hard plastic except for the pick which is metal. I'm guessing stainless steel. They seem to be well made and I believe would do the job they are intended for.
Hope this helps and good luck.

These do float, at least for a while. i never saw them sink.
No a knurled finish, but contoured to help with the grip. I had no problems gripping them.
I have only had the opportunity to use them once, but they held up and appeared to be strong.
The plastic grips outside of the spike. There is a spring loaded plastic sheath over the spikes that help prevent puncturing your drysuit, or rescue craft.
Several people in the class did have home made ones. Some worked some did not. Think about how much time it will take to make them and what your time is worth. I would prefer these over a home made setup.

They do float. The full length of the picks is 5", with the 1" diameter portion you would hold being 4" long. There are indentations on the handles to improve grip. They are well made, the orange barrel is a rigid plastic and the pick is steel. Can definitely be life savers.

    Comments about Pick-of-Life Ice Awls:

Bought this for my dad who is always walking across the ice to our island cottage in the winter. He is thrilled to have them, especially knowing someone who fell through the ice and lived to tell his story because of the safety ice picks he was wearing at the time. I am happy to know that my dad is a little safer with these safety ice picks!

      Comments about Pick-of-Life Ice Awls:

I used this product in an ice water rescue class. The product works as described. The only thing I found wrong with them is that they will only work on fully frozen ice or ice that has been covered by water. If the ice is in the process of melting, they won't work as well. Great deal for the money.

      Service and delivery comments:

The delivery was fast and the product arrived in brand new condition.
