Commonly heard complaints from boaters are "My wetshoes dry slowly" and "My shoes really stink." The problems are related. Neoprene shoes don't "breathe" so moisture escapes slowly unless you work to eliminate it. And bacteria and other microorganisms in the water and from your feet can generate odors in those moist conditions. This video shows how to clean and dry watershoes to head off odor. And if stinky shoes happen, we show how to eliminate it.

To wear the product comfortably I put on a pair of liner/wicking socks. This makes up for the tiny size discrepancy. Other than that, they keep my feet warm in the Guadlupe river when fishing November through April. This was a gift that I was happy to receive. Thumbs up.

The sock was great, I wore it for sixteen days hiking and paddeling in southern Patagonia. No problems with blisters and as my feet were wet the whole time, they kept my feet resonably warm.
The problem is thier sizing chart...way off. I have a 10 1/2 foot. That calls for a XL. I thought that was too big...I got a large, still too big, so that sucked.

    Comments about NRS Wetsocks:

I used the socks on a whitewater rafting trip in the Grand Canyon and hiked the narrows in Zion national park. The socks kept my feet warm and protected. The only issue was getting the right size. I ordered large and had to return and use medium. I wear a 11.5 with a narrow heel. NSR handled every thing perfectly.

          Comments about NRS Wetsocks:

I have never been able to fit a man shoe that is just one size smaller than my normal shoe size so I don't know why I thought using the same conversion for these socks would work. But I ordered what the chart said and sure enough they didn't fit. I think women with small feet just don't fit into mens sizes. If you've ever had this problem before, these socks will not fit your feet. You might try two sizes smaller but I will avoid buying men's sizes for my feet for socks as well as shoes in the future.

Yes they are meant to be worn with "water booties" or any other shoe. They are simply for insulation and have no tread or protection for the bottom of your foot.

I have 2 very small kayaks (a Wavesport Project 52 and a Dagger Kingpin 6.2). They are too small to get my feet into if I wear booties.

Not necessarily. They might not fit in booties if the booties are pretty tight. They are a thin layer of wetsuit-type material, so they can help to keep your feet warm if they are wet. You could wear them with whatever you're wearing in your boat -- water sandals, tennis shoes, whatever.

I wear a 10.5 usa size shoe and see from various reviews of the wetsock that they run large. some reviewers said the large size was ok, whereas others said the large was too big for a 10.5 shoe and medium was good for a size 10.

I plan to use them for fording glacier-fed cold rivers, so they will be inside sneakers or similar footwear. I could wear a thin liner sock, but this is not necessary.

I'm thinking about getting the size large stated to be for 8/9 shoe. What do you recommend?

The sizes are in the range of, which means if you step to a smaller
size the socks will be a very snug/ almost tight fit. If you stick
within the range of your size is it will fit perfect, won't be loose

size down from the one recommended for your shoe size - an 8.5 is right in the
middle of the Large size - which covers sizes 8-9. I wear a size 12.5 - but I
found the recommended size XXL to be too loose, so I sized down one size. I
guess it depends on what you will be wearing over them. For me, they had to fit
inside a water shoe, so I needed them to be tighter. If you are wearing them in
a sandal and you want them to be extra roomy you might want the recommended
                      size.
