Commonly heard complaints from boaters are "My wetshoes dry slowly" and "My shoes really stink." The problems are related. Neoprene shoes don't "breathe" so moisture escapes slowly unless you work to eliminate it. And bacteria and other microorganisms in the water and from your feet can generate odors in those moist conditions. This video shows how to clean and dry watershoes to head off odor. And if stinky shoes happen, we show how to eliminate it.

    Q:

Are these meant to be worn with water booties?
    Asked on 12/7/2014 by Kiteboarder

      A:

Not necessarily. They might not fit in booties if the booties are pretty tight. They are a thin layer of wetsuit-type material, so they can help to keep your feet warm if they are wet. You could wear them with whatever you're wearing in your boat -- water sandals, tennis shoes, whatever.

      To whom it may concern,
I have 2 very small kayaks (a Wavesport Project 52 and a Dagger Kingpin 6.2). They are too small to get my feet into if I wear booties.
So, I wear them by themselves. I have seen people wear them under booties though.
      Hope that helps.

You certainly can. You can also wear them with water sandals. Anywhere you need some insulation for your feet.

?Yes, I wear them with water boots. Although they are exceedingly thick, I probably would not attempt to paddle in just them; I would always wear boots with them.

They aren't really meant to be walked around on - you should really think
      of them as socks...

Yes they are meant to be worn with "water booties" or any other shoe. They are simply for insulation and have no tread or protection for the bottom of your foot.

    Q:

I wear a 10.5 usa size shoe and see from various reviews of the wetsock that they run large. some reviewers said the large size was ok, whereas others said the large was too big for a 10.5 shoe and medium was good for a size 10.

I plan to use them for fording glacier-fed cold rivers, so they will be inside sneakers or similar footwear. I could wear a thin liner sock, but this is not necessary.

I'm thinking about getting the size large stated to be for 8/9 shoe. What do you recommend?

Each of the Wetsock sizes covers a couple of shoe sizes. When you look on the sizing tab, the Medium fits women with size 7-8 feet.

The sizes are in the range of, which means if you step to a smaller
size the socks will be a very snug/ almost tight fit. If you stick
within the range of your size is it will fit perfect, won't be loose
nor cutting circulation off. Mine I use either with NRS Wetshoes or
sandles and just as comfy as can be along with the true purpose,
keeping your feet warm in the cold..... Enjoy!!!

The Large Wetsock fits men's size 8-9.

Answered on 9/21/2012 by Clyde from NRS
    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

Neoprene socks are sized a little big, in my experience. If you want it to fit
like a sock (tight) that you will wear inside a shoe, you might try the next
size down from the one recommended for your shoe size - an 8.5 is right in the
middle of the Large size - which covers sizes 8-9. I wear a size 12.5 - but I
found the recommended size XXL to be too loose, so I sized down one size. I
guess it depends on what you will be wearing over them. For me, they had to fit
inside a water shoe, so I needed them to be tighter. If you are wearing them in
a sandal and you want them to be extra roomy you might want the recommended
      size.

The sock was great, I wore it for sixteen days hiking and paddeling in southern Patagonia. No problems with blisters and as my feet were wet the whole time, they kept my feet resonably warm.
The problem is thier sizing chart...way off. I have a 10 1/2 foot. That calls for a XL. I thought that was too big...I got a large, still too big, so that sucked.
