The womens boater gloves REALLY do fit "like a second skin" true to size , once they are on, they feel very comfortable and natural. BUT they do fit close--NOT tight but like they've been painted on and so they dont come off quick but you really dont want them to until you are done with your trip. I got them to protect my hands from the sun and didnt want anything too hot. THese are great, comfortable but expect them to fit close. Go on easy but have to be teased off when wet.

About the only thing I've bought from NRS that I've been disappointed with. Paddling in Florida I use gloves to ward off blisters, for sun protection and for just a bit of warmth in chilly spring water. Most light paddling gloves last me at least a season. These lasted 2 trips before they started to fray. Also, altho the gloves fit my hand perfectly the seam inside the thumb rubbed a raw spot. On the plus side they are nice and light and provide a good grip.

Comments about NRS Women's Boater's Gloves - Closeout:

Have purchased these in the past. I kayak about 60 miles on flat water a week from March through November weather permitting. I wear through 3 pairs of these gloves a season. They are very comfortable but I feel don't hold up well. I have paddled with other gloves that hold up better but aren't as comfortable.

Delivery was prompt and product well packed.

              Q:

How long are the fingers on size small? I want them to cover up to my top joint. I have small hands, but get blisters on the middle section of my fingers.

They are 1 inch from the base of the finger to the opening.

They stop at or below your first joint of your fingers. You my want to try
full fingered gloves or do what I do ... tape the finger prone to blisters
with hockey tape or surgical tape. Keeping your hands dry will help prevent
                blisters too.

                Fellow Shopper,
I didn't measure them, but they do not cover even the first knuckle so they only protect palm and first section up to the knuckle. Probably 1" long? I hope that helps.

The fingers on these gloves come just past the first knuckle on my hands—not sure any glove of this type would cover the middle section of your fingers, unless the glove was way too big for your hand.

Chris, there's a slight variation in the finger length, 3/4" - 1", with the 1" being that middle finger.

I can't tell from the picture...is there a seam on the inside of the thumb? I'm worried about comfort with a kayak paddle.

There is a seam there. However, the seam is between the stiffer palm material and the fleecy "nose wipe" material, so the stiffer material lays flat and is much less likely to cause irritation. The customer reviews point to little problem with this seam.

There is a seam between the thumb and forefinger.  However, the palm padding piece is what supports the contact with the paddle.  The seam does not make noticeable contact with the paddle.

                A:

The seam runs down the middle of the back of my thumb rather than along the side of my thumb where most of my paddle contacts my thumb. The seams are very fine and are barely noticeable when wearing the glove. The glove softens and moulds to your hand quite quickly - they're very comfortable and move easily around the paddle shaft without slipping or catching. I have nearly worn mine out after some years of hard use and will definitely get another pair.

                Hi,
Yes, there is an interior seem that runs along the web of the hand between
the forefinger and the thumb. My wife uses these and has not yet
complained of any discomfort or chafing, though she isn't a high mileage
                kayaker.

The leather exterior does have a seam on the thumb. But the inside layer
next to the skin does not have a seam. I've worn these gloves for 3 years
and have never had any rubbing or irritation from seams. Do order one size
larger than you usually wear as they are on the small side.
