Comments about NRS Stampede Shorty Jacket:

This fell apart at the seams after about 6 months. The seam tape started delaminating first, then the seams themselves started failing. Then, due to those issues, it failed to make the return-trip from Mexico last fall. Now the spring weather has me looking for a replacement that will last longer (I would think 3 or 4 seasons of moderate use is a reasonable expectation).

I'm good about caring for my gear when off the river (e.g., hanging it up/ storing it in a room with a/c) so I I don't feel like I abused it or contributed to its early demise.

NRS - I am not comfortable purchasing another one of these, based on this experience. Thanks for considering my thoughts as you move forward with your business.

    Service and delivery comments:

Customer service was good, as I returned one of the two sizes I ordered. Thanks for the help with that.

    Great warm weather top

Comments about NRS Stampede Shorty Jacket:

This is a great paddling top for warm and cool days on the water. I use this all summer on runs in the mountains of NC with a thin layer and in the cooler months with a thick fleece short sleeve top.

Despite being labelled as a "semi-dry" I have never had water leak in through the gaskets. Typically I paddle up to class IV, so bigger water might yield different results. The neck gasket is super comfortable, every semi-dry top should have the rubberized neoprene gaskets.

I spend half my year in this and half my year in my drysuit.

Does the job of keeping water out of the boat and is light enough to stay cool on the river on hot days, not a layer for warmth, but a light protection from elements....

Can you cut the collar length down without the collar seams falling apart?

              A:

I would not recommend cutting the collar. The neoprene will stretch after you've worn it a few times, and the stitching on this jacket is not as sturdy as other paddling jackets.

Johnny, we don't recommend trimming the neck gasket. If it's not working for you, just return it.

What's the difference between the Stampede Shorty and Shorty Play jacket? The materials and fabric look the same, and both have a double tunnel.

              A:

Item # 25693 is the older version of the Stampede Shorty. Item # 25694 is the newer version, slightly different material, new colors, same basic jacket.
