    Q:

What is the weight, in grams, for a medium Sea Tour Pullover Jacket?
Asked on 1/21/2014 by Kathy from Fort Myers, FL

      A:

The jacket is pretty light weight. Not something to wear by itself on a chilly day. Will need a sweat shirt or something under it. But it keeps you very dry and keeps the wind off of you.

      A:

I don't know in grams the weight of the jacket.
However, I would say it is of medium thickness for a shell jacket.

Ted, it's roomy enough to fit over most PFDs when sized normally. For extra room, go up a size.

Nice jacket, not made for women

Comments about NRS Sea Tour Pullover Paddle Jacket:

This is a nice looking jacket and has great features, but it's not a women's jacket. It's advertised as unisex (sold under both men's and women's categories), but the sizing is definitely for men. My wife is 5'7" and about 125lbs and she was absolutely swimming in the small. Too bad, because if they made a version of this that fit it seems like a great deal, especially at the sale price. Too bad NRS, like most companies, has a limited selection of paddling jackets for women compared to men.

Comments about NRS Sea Tour Pullover Paddle Jacket:

I am 5'9" and weigh 225. I originally ordered the XL version of this jacket, but returned it to get the L size which fits much better. In fact, it is one of the best fitting jackets I own. I hardly know I'm wearing it when I have it on. The zipper placements are well thought out and easy to operate and don't rub up against anything you might have on, be it a PFD or a backpack. I understand why there are no pit zips, as when paddling you don't want a zipper rubbing you raw, but then that converts this jacket into something that if you need to shed heat quickly you almost need to take it off. However, I don't get too hot in this jacket. I highly recommend this jacket. It repels water with ease.

              • Advice On Sizing For Sea

              Best Uses

Comments about NRS Sea Tour Pullover Paddle Jacket:

I've been kayak paddling for 60 years, so I span a period that started with paddle jackets that were ex-army fatigues. Next we used hikers' anoraks. It seemed like forever before someone brought out a jacket designed for paddlers with cuffs and neck seals. These early products revolutionised our comfort and safety, but they were incredibly inflexible and the decision whether or not to don your jacket was critical in changeable conditions, particularly on the sea. It seemed you could keep the wind and the water out, but not also ventilate or cool yourself down when you got too warm. This jacket has it all so far as I am concerned. I can do everything up and be snug and dry whenever it rains or the wind is chilly, but I can also pull up the sleeves for bare arms, pull down the zip for excellent ventilation and do not have to dice with a capsize while making these adjustments.
My only criticism is that as a sea paddler I carry a load of stuff in my PDF pockets and attached to the various straps and fittings. I agree the jacket is generously cut, but not sufficiently for me to get the jacket over my PDF, not that I would want to do this, as I want all that stuff like my personal locator beacon and VHF to hand. So the sizing is not a problem for me, but I feel the advice you offer on sizing is not specific enough for sea paddlers.
This wonderful jacket will not replace my dry suit which I will continue to use in my home waters of Scotland, but it is superb for Summer paddling in cool or changeable climes.
I've only had the jacket for about six months, but I have been on a number of extended trips on Florida's Gulf Coast, in the Scottish Sea of the Hebrides and around Prince Edward Island in the Canadian Maritimes. The jacket has performed every bit as well as you claim and as I had hoped it would.
