Use your Fire-Sil Firepan Ground Cloth to keep coals and ashes from fouling campsites and possibly causing wildfires. Great 'Leave No Trace' camping accessory. Meets permit requirements.
  • The durable Fire-Sil fire-retardant fabric will give you years of use.
  • Approximately 5' x 6' (30 sq. ft.), the Ground Cloth gives great coverage for collecting the ashes and embers that can fall out of your firepan.
  • While the Ground Cloth can take the heat of embers and burning wood that fall out of your Firepan. Put these burning materials back in as soon as possible to prolong the Cloth's life.
  • Be a good environmental citizen - use a Firepan and this Firepan Ground Cloth to help leave your campsite as clean as you found it.
  • Be sure to have a minimum of 4 inches of space between the bottom of the firepan and your Ground Cloth.
  • Many government agencies are now requiring the use of a ground cloth underneath the Firepan.
  • Don't build fires directly on the Ground Cloth; prolonged exposure to this level of heat will shorten its life.

Comments about FSP Fire Blanket for Firepan:

This blanket does what it's supposed to do. You lay it on the ground, put the fire box on top, build the fire, wait for the coals, toast the marshmellows, and voila! In the morning you rinse the blanket in the river, hang it up to dry, and by the time the raft is packed you can fold it up, stow it away, and you're off. Meets the regs, no worries.

Comments about FSP Fire Blanket for Firepan:

We use the fire blanket under our fire pit in our back yard. The blanket protects our grass as well as our deck. It's easy to lay out and gather up when we're done. We like knowing things won't get burned as long as the blanket is protecting them. We also like the fact it's made in America! The price was a little steep but it's a lot cheaper than paying for fire damage!

      Service and delivery comments:

Delivery took about a week which is fine. It arrived in great condition.

Comments about FSP Fire Blanket for Firepan:

I am also using it for the wood patio to prevent burn throughs. works great. even too big for small deck in apt, but no problem folding to fit. folding to put away is harder, especially after being warned to fold in different ways to avoid fabric fatigue. i like it, bottom line.

          • FSP Fire Blanket for Firepan

            Q:

I want to cook outdoors with a dutch oven. I have a concrete patio. Can I place the hot charcoal on the FSP fire blanket, and then put the dutch oven over the coals? Or will that damage the fire blanket and/or the concrete patio under the blanket?

Yes, that will damage the blanket.

              A:

Nina, placing the coals directly on the Fire Blanket will damage it. It's designed to catch sparks and stray coals that flake off a fire in the Firepan, and prevent them from getting mixed in the sand in a campsite. I use an old metal garbage can lid to hold my Dutch ovens. If you're concerned about damaging the concrete you can elevate the lid with some bricks.

            Q:

If excess from cooking, grease for example, is to spill onto the blanket itself is there a preferred method of cleaning the blanket to remove the stain/smell?

              A:

Our blanket is pretty stained, but it doesn't really retain the smell. I
hose it off and scrub with a soft sponge when it gets really gross. We've
been using it routinely at home for over 5 years, under the charcoal grill
on a wood porch. After burning several small holes in the porch from rogue
coals, we smartened up and bought this blanket; it works like a charm!

A household cleaner like 409, and a little elbow grease, should work to remove food stains. I wouldn't use anything too harsh or abrasive.
