Bought pair for me and my 21 yr. old son to use on 2 day kayak trip in shallow creek. Forced to portage around large tree and 2 dams. Went from water to dense woods without issue. Portage in water over rocky bottom in several spots. Traction was better than I expected. Comfortable wet or dry. We both agreed they paid for themselves several times on our adventure.

These look like nice shoes, and have the quality that I've come to expect from NRS. My only complaint is that they run a little small. I normally wear a 9, and I ordered a 9 in this shoe. But, my toes end up being jammed against the front of the shoe. I've not had this problem with other NRS water shoes, so I think it is just the design of this shoe in particular. Make sure you order, at least, half a size larger or you will find these shoes to be very uncomfortable to wear. If it had not been for the sizing, I would have given them four stars. But, because of the size issue, I can't wear them.

No Help on Slippery Rocks

Comments about NRS Men's Kicker Remix Shoe - Closeout:

I bought these to wear kayaking in the Pacific NW. They ran a full size too small but NRS quickly exchanged them no problem. Turns out they are comfortable while paddling and the thick sole is just what I wanted for walking on sand and pebbles. Be aware though that the soles are absolutely no help when walking or climbing on wet slippery rocks in intertidal areas.

                          Q:

Looking for a good wet-shoe for protection from shells while fishing the surf-line in Florida. Would also like something that will minimize accumulation of sand and shell bits in shoe.

                          1) I know the Kicker Remix is designed for cold weather/water comfort. Will I regret using them in +80 degree water?

                          2) Will they do a decent job of keeping out detritus?

                          Thanks for your assistance.

I don’t think they have invented anything that will keep sand out. I use them primarily out of the boat camped at the side of the river on a sand or gravel bar. So long as the top of the shoe isn’t below the level of the sand or mud you should be ok.

These are a great product, fairly tough on the bottom and good traction,
but IMO you will get sand/shell bits inside. I would recommend higher
tops. I wouldn't think the 80+ water temp would be a problem.

Yes , the remix is fairly tight around the ankle and top of foot. Hard
bottom as well. They shouldn't be overly hot in the water.

I use mine in fairly warm water but it's a shorter cut wet shoe (just at
ankle) and if you want to keep sand and bits out you may want a taller
                            model.

I think it should not be a problem in Florida water and you can tighten the ankle pretty tight so it should keep out any unwanted sand shells whatever.

I use them all summer here in pa which is 80's low 90's and they are fine.
If the sand/shell bits are above the top of the shoe, you will probably get
some inside. I think if you had them tied tight enough to keep it out, you
                            would cut off your circulation.

Excellent thick sole without being inflexible. It has a draw string around
the ankle to help keep out sand and debris, but nothing will keep out all
sand in stirred up water. I used them for walking and snorkeling in the
broken coral beaches of the South Pacific - that's why I bought them. Water
                            temp isn't a problem.

Go up at least a half size on this shoe. That's what others recommended and

I often take a 14 to make sure my feet are comfortable, but I found that a
13 works fine. So you may not need to go large - they have large square toe
boxes (less pointy for compactness). They also have draw-strings for
tightening around the ankle to reduce water slosh and grit getting in.

I wear a size 10, and my son wears a size 10. I ordered these in size 11 and
they fit us perfectly. I suggest you go one size bigger and get a 10

I wear a 10.5 shoe normally, what size would I need in this shoe to accommodate warm socks inside of drysuit socks?

I have purchased three pairs of NRS wetshoes.
In my experience, I find that they run about a size large, so a heavy
sock should fit well in your normal shoe size.
That said, neoprene expands very well, so you may consider buying a
shoe that fits well without a sock, so that you have options.
If you will be wearing heavy socks in addition to a drysuit, I would
go up two sized from a bare-footed shoe.
                            Hope this is helpful.

Size 12 likely. Im comfortable, slightly roomy in size 11 street shoes. I
just bought the NRS Remix in size 11 and 12. The 12s are a bit loose while
walking, but so far I've only used thinish socks with my drysuit. The 11s
are clearly too small, but it seems a good water shoe so I kept them also
for summer use sans drysuit. 12 at first was a little tight for my feet
inside the kayak, but I changed foot pegs longer by one stop and got used
                            to everything almost immediately.

You need to go up at least 1/2 size.

                            Hi Dan,
I just bought a pair of 10s. I haven't taken them in the water yet, but
with no socks they fit me perfectly. With a pair of warm wool socks,
they're a tad on the tight side, but still good. If I were to throw on a
layer of drysuit socks too, I'd definitely want to kick it up a size. I
                            normally where between a 9 and 10.
                            Hope that's helpful.
Will you always be wearing two layers inside the shoe? If so, this is just
a guess, but if you're a 10.5 you might want to go up to a 12?

I take size 10.5 3E in shoes and ordered size 12. I just wore these today to
watch the Polar Bear swim in Vancouver, BC. I had heavy ŒIceberg¹ merino
wool socks inside the Kokatat GMER Dry suit socks, they were comfy on the
beach and inside the yak. I have a size 11 in the higher NRS water boot and
it¹s way to tight for winter use, barefoot its good. Cheers & safe paddling!

My 10.5 fits really sung on me and a 10.5 dress shoe normally fits
perfect. I wouldn't have the room but everyone's sizing is different.

I am very happy with these water shoes. They work well on Colorado and Utah river trips. They should work for you on oyster shells. We have none in Colorado.

I haven't yet tried them in real conditions, but the soles certainly look
like you can safely do this.

There's a 3 mm rubber sole, 3 mm neoprene insole and a 2 mm plastic shim, so oyster shell shouldn't cut your feet.

I'm not sure about how sharp oyster bars can get but it seems like they would have to be sharper than glass to pierce this shoes sole. I've been on rocks roots and gravel and haven't had anything become uncomfortable. That's not to say you won't feel it but it shouldn't cut your foot.  Hope this helps.

Are the new Kicker Remix shoes made to the same size and shape as the old version? The older remixes ran a little small and the toe box had an odd shape, but they were a great fit for me.
