Neither that I can recall and you can always pad under the inside headband to snug up a slightly big medium

I think it tends to stretch a bit.  I have only worn mine doing yard work when it is about a 100 deg.  Love the hat.

Unknown if it shrinks as I have not got it wet yet. However it arrives with a fit a little on the big side, but if you like a loose fit it should be perfect.

I purchased my hat about two years ago, and shrinking has not been a problem. It's a good hat.

Had mine several years. Always been a bit tight on my big noggin, but it hasnt shrunk. Gets a bit softer when wet too.

They are pretty true to size. No shrinking or stretching. I have a large head and M was fine for me. My friend has a small head and S was fine for her. I'd be inclined to go the bigger size - hats that are too small for your head just won't work whereas you can get away with it if they are a bit big, ESP with the drawstring.

They neither shrink nor stretch. Great hat, by the way. If you're in the
middle, I would look at all the Tulas because the various hats seem to
      have different sizing scales.

I use the Tula Sierra hat in the backyard in Texas where the sun is relentless, especially in the summer, and I also use it in parks and outdoor events. The material it's made of is first rate, and the chin strap adds security the wind. You can moisten the brim and mold it up or down. I haven't taken it out paddling because I'm afraid of losing it.

As a geology grad student, I spent weeks cruising the beaches of the Bahamas in summer, searching for sea caves to survey. The Bahamas in summer can be really hot and beaches have no shade. I eventually found a locally made straw hat in a dumpster, and it was the answer to my problems. Over the years, it wore out, and I eventually gave it to a buddy. So, this was supposed to be a replacement for that. And I'm a bit disappointed. First of all, it's a bit small for my head (I got the biggest size). Not so much the circumference, it just doesn't come down very far. As it has broken in, it's gotten a little better, but it still rides a bit high and the strap is required to keep it on my head if it's windy. A nice looking, functional straw (actually palm front) hat, but beware if you've got a big head.

I got the large as it said it was a 7 1/4. It was too big, them got a medium and it's a bit small. I'm hoping it will stretch a bit, but so far, no luck with that. I wear a 7 1/4 Tilley and it fits me perfect.

        Comments about Tula Sierra Hat:

The XL runs small and the depth is too shallow to allow the hat to be pulled down in the wind. The rodeo model has the same 3" brim but more depth. The size can be expanded by wetting the hat and wearing it.
