With a set of Yakima HullyRollers on the back of your car's roof rack, you can easily position your kayak on your car top, even by yourself. When the boat is in place, strap it down securely right to the HullyRollers. (You'll need either a second set of HullyRollers, or other saddle mounts such as the Mako Saddles (sold separately) to support the front of the boat.)
  • Pivoting rollers smoothly slide the kayak on and off the vehicle's top.
  • The U-shaped rollers fit any boat shape.
  • Rollers lock in place and do not roll when locked during transport.
  • The rollers are padded with Dynaflex™, a soft, durable composite material, for sure grip on your boat and long wear.
  • Attach easily to crossbars. For factory racks use Yakima MightyMounts (sold separately).
  • Includes one 16' Yakima padded Heavy Duty Strap and one Bow/Stern Tie Down.

    Q:

Will these and the Mako fit on my 2005 Toyota Highlander cross bars?
Asked on 11/15/2013 by Jim from New London, NH

      A:

      Jim,
It is my understanding that the Yakima brackets will only fit a round
Yakima cross bar. So if the cross bar on the Toyota Highlander are round
      then yes it should fit.

Jim, there on the product page, in the More Information box is the Yakima & Whispbar Fit Guide. Running your Highlander through it should provide the answer. You may have to install MightyMounts to adapt to your factory bars.

They fit on my '99 4Runner and '09 Sienna without a problem, and I believe
the bars are approximately the same.

        Comments about Yakima HullyRoller:

I boughten two sets of these for two sea kayaks, and they do not seat well on the round Yakima cross bars, in spite of tightening them up as much as I can. When loading or unloading the boats, the "helly rollers" rotate off vertical on the round bars, bind up, and have scratched the roof. Avoid these!

            Comments about Yakima HullyRoller:

I use the Hully rollers with the universal mounts and the Mako saddles. I have a 17' sea kayak and transport with a '97 Explorer. This combination makes loading and off loading considerably easier than universal foam blocks previously used. Just came back from 180 mile trip to the Outer Banks and had no problems with transport. All the needed straps were supplied with product(s).

                Comments about Yakima HullyRoller:

First of all I have these "Helly Rollers" yes that's right the rollers from Hell. I have tightened them so tight on the round bars that they are about to break. They apparently forgot to install the sealed bearings (hint, hint) so mine don't roll very well or not at all. Sometimes the one on the right or left side will stop rolling completely, the entire assembly will lock up, pivot over and pitch my kayak off of my truck. Thank God thus far I have managed to catch my my kayak before it hit the ground.
I own six kayaks and thought that I would buy one pair and give them a try. At least my Saddles work beautifully and the Rack System is nice too.

                  Comments about Yakima HullyRoller:

These are great for loading and unloading a long kayak like a necky 14' and up. They lock once you load so the boat won't move.
