This Gives Confidence

By LouDog

from Coloma

Comments about AIRE Thwart Handle:

My friends, who tend to be a little nervous in class IV water, seem to really be put at ease when I use these. When I forget them, or leave them on my small raft, they are not happy.
I've never seem them really need them, but something about knowing they are there makes everyone happy. They also are effective to get back in the raft from the side if your not skilled at re-entry.
I use two per thwart on a 14 foot Highside (which is a large tube raft) and that has worked out well for us.

Aire Grab Strap Handles

By Theo

Pros

  • Adjustable
  • Durable

Cons

  • Plastic buckle
  • Plastic Teeth

Best Uses

  • Whitewater rafting

Comments about AIRE Thwart Handle:

They are functional but I wish they were just an inch bigger. During cold water winter boating it can be difficult to grab with gloves on. On the other hand you don't want the hole so big that you can fit your hand through it. I would be willing to pay the extra money for metal cam strap buckles instead of the plastic ones. Sometimes they loosen up because the plastic teeth don't always hold there bite. I've used these on my boats for 4 years, and just purchased a few more for a new boat.
