    Q:

Are the bow and stern float bags removable for packing gear for a trip? I need to be able to pack a coupe dry bags with sleeping bag, food, fly pole, etc

Les, they are certainly removable. Since the stern bag also serves as the back rest you'll want to take that into account, or add a Cheetah Chair, Item # 81000.01. Also, the front bag normally serves as your "foot peg."

    Q:

Where does the user put their feet? Which is the bow? Are these stow floats?

      A:

You brace your feet against that forward flotation chamber. The AIRE logo is on the front of boat. Both the stern backrest and bow footrest can be moved fore and aft to allow you to adjust your weight distribution for the type of performance you're looking for. There are no stow floats but there is storage room in the bow and stern.

    Q:

The Leafield valve in the floor of my boat is leaking from the stem. I have the wrench that removes it in my repair kit, but cannot find a replacement, so I have not messed with it yet. The instructions included troubleshooting, which I did and could not get it to stop leaking. The repair instructions are a little vague, but understandable. Is this an easy repair, and do you sell the valve I need? Thank you.

      A:

Take a look at our Leafield identification page - http://www.nrsweb.com/repair/leafield.asp - If it's a C7, you're in luck because the working parts of the valve are in the outer part of the valve. AIRE often uses the B7 because it works better with the extra layers, inner bladder, etc. However, the working parts are in the inner piece. Hmm, it's likely that there's dirt/crud between the rubber seal and the valve body. Have you worked down in the throat of the valve with Q-tip/pipe cleaner/etc to see if you can dislodge anything interfering with the seal? Give us a call, 800.635.5202, if we can help. Or give AIRE a call, 800-247-3432, their customer service is ALMOST as good as ours (you can tell Tyler I said that!)

Does this boat include foot pegs, or do I need to purchase your Aire Inflatable Kayak Foot Pegs kit?

You should be able to adjust the bow and stern flotation so that you can brace your feet against the bow float.

  • AIRE Force Air Floor Kayak

    Q:

Can you please tell me, if paddling with a paddle, are these as fast as say a hard shell pack canoe that would also be using a paddle? I am looking at under 30 pound canoes but this boat also interest me. I will probably be mostly on lakes. The other question is, will dogs claws harm the surfaces. She will just be jumping in and out, she will only do that at the beginning and end. Otherwise, she'll just be along for the ride. NOT a water dog.

      A:

This is designed as a whitewater boat and won't track well on flat water like a lake. It's too small to hold a dog with you, unless it's a small one, in which case it's claws shouldn't be a problem. For the use you describe, this isn't the boat for you. Give us a call - 800.635.5202 - and we'll help you pick a good one.

Comments about AIRE Force Air Floor Kayak:

If you don't like being squeezed like a sausage in a hard-shell, and you're worried about your roll, this is the boat. It paddles very much like a hard-shell. It surfs very well too. I always thought IK's were just floating bath tubs and this boat changed my mind. It's my main boat now.
