The NRS Youth Drylander Shock Cord sprayskirt is designed to fit the smaller cockpits of today's youth kayaks while retaining the same great features offered in adult skirts. One deck size, two tunnel size options.
  • The skirt is patterned to stretch easily and fit drum-tight on today's kids' kayaks.
  • Rubberized inner deck coating grips the kayak combing from the inside, resisting slippage.
  • Tough 4-mm neoprene surface holds well under pressure.
  • Tufftex nylon laminate on neoprene sheds water and holds against implosions, while the Infinity coating provides resistance against abrasion around the cockpit combing.
  • 4-way stretch PowerSpan neoprene tunnel gives a snug fit.

To prevent water leakage and implosion, you want a neoprene-deck sprayskirt to fit tight to your kayak cockpit coaming. However, if it's so tight, you have trouble getting it on the rim or pulling it off in an emergency. In this video, we show you how to stretch the skirt a bit.

Very tight skirt

Pros

Cons

Comments about NRS Drylander Shock Cord Youth:

I bought 3 of these skits for a Jackson Superfund, fun and a fun 1.5 and have only used them in the pool so far. They are water tight and keep water off, but I have found them to be very tight fitting around the boat and very hard to get on. On Super fun, I couldn't get it on with one person until I went through the routine of wetting the skirt and leaving it on the boat for a day and repeating. Now, I t is doable by myself without a problem.

It comes off without trouble on a wet exit.

Comments about NRS Drylander Shock Cord Youth:

Ordered for my 7yr old son, he is small. Figured waist would be too big but he could grow into it. Skirt does not fit Jackson Fun1 cockpit, deck is way too large and bungy is too small for deck IMO. Bungy also had slight twist on right side making poor seal even worse. Item returned for refund

Size was right on. Sealed well around my child's waist with room to grow. Easy to put on and take off. Sturdy grab handle release is easy to locate when in trouble. Looks to be a solid product for the money.

            Q:

As a 5'3" 110 lb short-torso woman I have had to cut a regular adult sprayskirt tube down by 3" because it was so long/high on me that it interfered with breathing. Up to now only the Athena sprayskirt has worked for me as a stock product because it comes with 6-7" tubes instead of 9". My waist is 27-28" BEFORE I put on my drysuit,. Would the Drylander youth L-XL tube spray skirt fit my short torso better than the standard adult sized 9" tube which is for folks with average length torsos. The cockpits for both my boats are size 1.2 so I'm thinking the width and length of this spray skirt does work ? What IS the depth/length of the tube on the Drylander sprayskirt? Thanks, C.

Chase, the tunnel is right at 6" in height. If it doesn't work for you, you can certainly return it.

Ian, it should be a pretty tight fit. Returns are easy and free, so it's worth a try.
