Comments about NRS Mystery Sea Hood with Bill:

I have owned/used at least six different neo hoods over the last 15 years and this one is the best. It has become a permanent part of my kit, even in warm weather. Being bald I get a lot of heat loss both from convective and conductive cooling. The sun visor is a great plus and I can usually get away without wearing sunglasses on the water. The perforations over the ear area allow me to hear, but the hood still keeps most of cold the water out of my ear canal. I started out with the non-visored Mystery Sea Hood and I've since returned it to NRS. For some odd reason the non-visored hood does not conform to the shape of my cranium as well as the visored hood. I should note that although I have a 7 1/4 hat size I went with the L/XL in this hood. I found the S/M was too small.

    My favorite winter paddling cap!

Comments about NRS Mystery Sea Hood with Bill:

As a professional guide and kayak instructor I am on the water every day, year-round. I am often wet and need to retain as much heat as possible and this cap is the best that I have found. This, too, is a great wet weather cap. Another use of this cap is that it prevents impact of water driving water deeper into my ears when teaching rolling and when surfing. This is one of my "must-haves" in my kit bag.

Comments about NRS Mystery Sea Hood with Bill:

I tighten the chin strap on this hood when I'm playing in whitewater. With the strap tight, less water gets under the hood, reducing the "ice cream headache" so many other helmot liners allow.

I received this as a gift. I would't have purchased it because it's described as a "sea hood." Actually, it turned out to be great for cold water playboating. It's genuinely warm and the chin strap allows the wearer to tighten it down enough to minimize the flow of water when upside-down in a hole. I love it!

              Q:

Anyone use this hood while wearing glasses? I've had issues with other products that come in close around the temples and squeeze the arms of the glasses.

                A:

I use this hood routinely in winter with sports glasses and a neckstrap. I don't find this to be uncomfortable, but the hood is not stretched tight around my face and head. I find the hood to be warmer than I usually need without it having to be tight like a wetsuit hood. I don't wear it unless the air temperatures are below 55°F and even then, I sometimes remove it if I'm training hard and get overheated.

I wear this hood with my wireframe glasses. It keeps my head and ears warm.. It is comfortable and hasn't damaged my glasses. I am a sea kayaker. I don't roll wearing the hood, so can't give you feedback on that.
NRS is good about returns. Try it and if it doesn't work out, return it.

Yes, Jmarden, this is my preferred neoprene cap when I kayak and surf-kayak.. I wear glasses with a strap, and I wear a helmet over the cap. I do not have any difficulties with comfort.
Sometimes when the arms of glasses are squeezed, I go to my eye glass store, and they mold them closer to my head..
                Good luck,

No problems with wearing sunglasses with it, the hood isn't tight around the ears.  It fits more like a snug cap, than a tight hood.

I measure my head at 25". If I tighten a cloth measuring tape I can get it close to 24 3/4. I am wondering if this article will be too small?

I found my hood to be very pliable and its easy to adjust the chin strap as well. I'm sure it will fit your head just fine , & it's a very effective hood to be frank.

The Sea Hood is quite stretchy, so it will probably fit. Our Hassle-Free Returns process - http://www.nrsweb.com/shop/returns.asp - makes it a no-risk proposition to give it a try.

                Terry,
I measured my head. I'm 23.5 inches. I never released or thought about a
                head's circumference.
I just tried my hood on again. The hood's not tight, but slight pressure
on the ears. No big red marks on my forehead nor hat head because I'm bald.
